"You have to focus on the main things that a football club needs – and that is the first team." I imagine this is crucial to him staying. Edin needs to shelve the youth bollocks. I don't think its bollocks but run it at Youth level not a development squad. I presume that's why we have seen him bring on the likes of Staunton and Hawked so that Grayson can say I can do it without a development squad. Yeah I meant do away with snapping up lads in their 20's hoping they'll make it - your Patrick's etc. Keep developing teenagers at youth level.

Personally I'd have a squad of 22 proper footballers including Robinson in that and have a few of the kids ie Sykes-kenworthy, Hawkes, Staunton, Kirkpatrick and the young left back cum winger the big boys are chasing but I can't remember his name, padding the squad out and break them in during the shit cup. They need to earn the right to break through and do it at a rate that their development can cope with. Patrick is now at an age where its make or break and I'd suggest a loan to Hartlepool or the likes to give him experience. Looks like another Blair Turgott to me though. Gunner is a waste and so are the Germans and it looks like Webb-Foster isn't good enough either

It’s madness for us to focus on youth development. Given our modest income and lack of investment, we can’t afford to spread our resources so thinly. I’d be tempted to bin off the youth and reserve side altogether and put those resources into supplementing the first team and maybe adding one young cast off from the premier league into the first team squad as a ‘punt’ each season.
20 really strong first team pros and 4-5 young lads on the fringes like Gibson, Devine, Patrick.
Unless you’re going to invest in doing in properly, as a conveyor belt for talent like clubs such as Southampton, don’t even bother. Sad to say. But true.

Every single difference of opinion and bone of contention he can think of makes his quotes to the press. Not one single mention of compromise or finding common ground. No way he’s staying.

For the shits and giggles lets hope he doesn't sign up. We can then up the ante as we know Grayson's demands have not been met, soap on a rope in the showers, that sort of thing.

I definitely want Rahic as manager if he goes. Then the fuse is lit

The things that Grayson has said in the paper today make total sense. Basically, yes, go and spend money on youth systems, development, infrastructure and all that good stuff..... BUT; only once you're in a financial position to do so i.e. once you are an established championship club or even premier league, but until then trying to pay for all that stuff with league one income is going to leave you hamstrung and potentially stranded for years in a shit division, pissing all the fans off in the process.
If they are truly in it for the long haul as they say they are, then they will listen to Grayson and sort their priorities out. If they ignore his advice and continue spreading the resources thinly, like da man 147 say, then nothing is going to work. Shite results on the pitch and shite-all coming through the development / youth squad. Now we know for sure Rahic and Rupp won't spend any of their own money it really is that simple.

Yep. The challenge the owners now have, is that Grayson is on record saying all the things that make sense and can't really be argued with. He's not saying 'give me mega money or I'm off'. He's saying
Focus on the first team Produce a competitive budget that can build a top 6 team at a minimum Provide adequate support staff Ensure the pitch and training facilities are of a professional standard
So if he leaves, it's a tacit demonstration that the owners have no intention of running us on that basis.

From reading the articles it sounds like Grayson has given Rahic and Rupp a few home truths. If they take any of it in board Grayson is the best thing to have happened to the club regardless of his underwhelming spell in charge.

Interesting comment about needing more support staff. One of the things that has regressed since Parky IMO is player fitness levels and injuries. Perhaps our first signing of the summer should be a 'Nick Allamby' type fitness coach. I was at the POTY awards and the player sat at our table (not saying who) said the training was more 'intensive' under Grayson compared to SMc. Not knocking SMc, but i think he was more of the old school ''have an injection, you'll be reet'' school of thought when i comes to injuries

Don't be so mean. What would Izzy think? She could be reading this now, a tear rolling down her cheek, saying ''i really thought he was the one (sob), i really did (sniff)..."

Yeah the training bit is interesting. We were a fit team under Parky.
Too many of this lot look like they’re running through treacle and some are blowing out of their arse after and hour

I could see Grayson going to Barnsley I can't but I can see Stuart going there. Although I wouldn't be surprised at another foreign manager.

Grayson knows this league. You give him a strong budget, he gets you up. Stuart’s team would be better to watch, but he doesn’t have the track record.
Barnsley will have a wedge to spend. Not silly money, but i reckon they’ll be happy to set a budget around 4-5 million, which gets you a strong team at this level if you spend wisely

Too many of this lot look like they’re running through treacle and some are blowing out of their arse after and hour McCartan's blowing out of his arse when he's finished tying the laces on his boots. I was speaking to an Accrington fan a while back who was raving about him. Said he was miles better than League Two. So far all we’ve seen is a purple-faced asthmatic. Incidentally he also said his best position was genuine striker but we seem to have him down as a deep lying forward dropping back to link up play like Clarke used to try and do. I can’t help wondering if we’d have seen the best of him if we’d got him fit and stuck him properly up front with Wyke.
