In today’s T&A: www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/sportbcfc/16100520.Grayson__Bantams_must_not_keep_drifting/It sounds more and more like you’re right, bantam147 and he’s thinking about staying though with the caveat of more control. I like the acknowledgement that we lack the quality for a top of the table side here: And that, if he gets to say who we sign, a good few of the ones we have now are either gone or out of the side: Right now Grayson represents our best hope of counteracting the hamfisted, amateurish attempt at bossing recruitment Edin is making.

I've said it before but I wouldn't give a shit if every single player left at the end of the season, including Wyke.
Actually I'd keep McGowan, I think he's a decent player for this level.

The T&A article certainly reads that if Grayson cannot do it his way, he'll be doing it somewhere else next season. And I'm pleased to hear him say it.
Going back to last summer, it was clear to many that the squad was too dependent on firstly, a few of the less experienced recruits making it into the first team and secondly, that there wasn't the depth of experience and quality to cope with injuries, suspension, loss of form etc. It was a gamble .. and as we all now know, the gamble failed on both counts. The Rahic/Abbott/McCAbball trio failed with last summer's recruitment and the squad was badly structured. If Grayson stays, I can't imagine that happening again in the coming summer.

Yep. He's not pulling any punches, which I like. He's making it clear - back me to do the job properly, or I'm off. And there's no emotional tie to the club - if he doesn't get what he wants, he'll be off. This is make or break for me - if he stays, I'll believe we're ready to learn some lessons, stump up a few quid and do it right. If he goes, we have every intention of staying Tin-Pot and I'll be done.
He's inherited a mess, so I'm not going to judge him too harshly on what's left of this season. What I'm looking for between now and May:
1) What he says to the press. Is he calling people out, emphasizing the need for more quality and making clear he expects it? 2) Is he binning off the dross and giving some of the younger lads a chance to show whether they might step up? 3) Are there signs of getting some foundational basics around team spirit and work rate into the team.
Results need to be largely written off for the next few weeks. Lets get ruthless and start building for next season NOW.

I don't disagree with what you've said, it's pretty much bang on - BUT - if we keep losing games and not having any shots on goal, all while playing with one striker that isn't a striker, Rahic would relieve him of his duties and the rest of the post would all be a moot point.

Yeah that's a fair point. There has to be balance. I think Rahic has put himself under pressure here. Its make or break for him - if Grayson leaves, its a clear indicator that we won't be backing a manager to compete properly at the top end of this league. He has to make this work.

In regards to that Interview. He's publically admitted the quality in the squad isn't good enough. Didn't Abbott get all defensive about such accusations at the Fans Forum?

I agree with what Hobbers has said before about Rahic, I think he's too damn stubborn to change his ways. The article in the T and A is clear dig at what he has seen so far at the club. McCall was the fall guy for what has happened this season but it's clear Grayson will not allow this to happen. If he does not get the assurances he needs to change around this fuckfest then he will be off in the summer. He ain't daft Grayson, he holds all the cards when it comes to the summer. Been here about a month and already ripping the running of the club to bits.

Grayson is exactly the manager we need at this club we just need an owner like Steve Gibson at Boro now and we could finally realise our true potential. The rebuild for this squad next season is huge, to say 20 players needed is not an exaggeration and Grayson is the right man for it

I think we need to bare in mind that we are currently the season ticket period.
I fully expect more and more of these articles to be published as we head to the first cut off. Articles of "plans for the future", "we'll be in the mix", "we've learnt from our mistakes" etc.
Like a few others have said, the time is to walk the walk and not for promotional rhetoric.
I would extend the cheap season ticket period for as long as possible because at the moment I don't think many people believe that changes are on the horizon.
If Grayson signs a deal to be here next season, then that might change people's opinion (although in my opinion he's shown nothing to suggest he's the messiah), better still would be to announce a pre-contract agreement with a proper marquee signing, however I understand that that is unlikely.

If and it's a big if Grayson agrees a new deal, it's a posiive sign that things have changed and we could actually be in a much stronger position at the start of this years preseason than last years. This is on the basis that:
*Grayson has made it pretty clear he wants full control and as Rahic is desparate to keep Grayson, his only option would be to take a back seat
*Presumably Grayson will not want to operate on a shoestring budget, especially when fans are expecting promotion. Rahic's only chance of keeping him is to back him financially.
Who our manager is at the start of pre season will be a big indicator as to how ambitious we are.

Incompetent, cheapskate, deluded fools.

I have some sympathy for Abbott because I can imagine the parameters Rahic gives him will be horrendous. Imagine only being able to scout for players that are willing to play for 500 quid a week and must have a resale value and be shit hot, Them players don't exist. But Abbott was essentially a crap manager and let go of Wells and Madden for free which to me shows his lack of talent in this field and should never have gotten the job in the first place. Cheap Rahic puppet at best
