Saw someone on Twitter say he played against us for Southampton. I completely forgot he played for Everton.

End of the game yesterday I noticed Hughes taking a good look around the ground soaking up the atmosphere and smiling to himself. He loves us already and he knows if he gets this right we could be massive.

Oh I have zero hope but I've warmed to Hughes, I can see the difference since he's been here give him some good players and I can see us pissing the league. But it's giving him them players that I have no trust in

What Hughes has shown, even in just a few weeks, is the impact of having a manager who connects properly with the fans and who can coach the team properly.
Back him, properly and we'll go up.

He conducts himself as a smooth pro whenever he speaks in interviews, and doesn't come across as being too big for the club. Gives of sense of reassurance and calm, even when we lost those first 3-4 home games he had. I get the feeling when he talks to anyone at the club they all listen. Players don't look shit scared of making mistakes, even when they do make them. Can't imagine him throwing a young player under the bus like Arsehole Adams did.

But it's giving him them players that I have no trust in He's taken a team of players who were gunshy and terrified to have a touch because they might fuck it and be hung out to dry in the press by the gaffer, to a semi-competent outfit even with some of the utter dogshit we have. If he'd had the January window and we hadn't done the same old trick of letting a shit manager buy a load of donkeys then sacking him 3 days after the window shuts this season could have been competitive.
It's not easy to put confidence back into players but Sparky's managed it and for me I'd break the bank to give him a genuinely top 3 in the league budget. Christ, Rupp could loan the fucking money to us like Lawn did. If it gets us up I'll pay the lad a tenner interest out of my own pocket.

I actually don't think so, I think he wants to be one to awaken the comatose giant. We're well known as a complete shitshow, he wants to be the one to fix it. Similar to Parkinson in that regard, I reckon.

Football is shite, out of work because he's shite and none of his players ever have nice things to say about him. Yet another poor appointment by a rugby man. I now genuinely believe in the next 18 months we will be in the conference. Cunts Aye

Everyone’s getting excited but this is another boo-boo. Him, Bruce, Pardew etc are all much of a muchness and I’ve sat back and watched their teams bumble around playing directionless football wondering how the fuck it is that they keep getting jobs. He won’t be cheap, he knows fuck all about the lower leagues, his record is poor, he trades on his name and he’ll be working under one of the most half-arsed, amateurish regimes in professional football. We’ve been blinded by his name and the glamour of some of the clubs he’s managed but he’s just not a very good manager and he’s a bit dim. We should have played safe, gone for an attacking manager with a reputation for playing the game the right way and promised no more than front foot football and having a really good go at teams next season. Instead we’ve been swayed by showbiz and appointed a guy who’ll fail and do it expensively. This is a mistake and it’s one with nothing more than season ticket sales in mind. Fuck you, Jizzle, I’m righter than you.

It’ll be an expensive payout next February. Looking more likely every game.

Fans are definitely turning. Yesterday was as bad as anything served up over the last 5 years. Realistically we need another big clear out in January as the squad looks piss weak. If we aren't gonna play the likes of East or Young after the way others have been playing then they need to go for their own wellbeing. Actually becoming bored of it again.

Next 3 games are at home. Absolutely massive for Hughes.
For me he needs 6 points. 5 could be tolerable, 3 or less and he's in big trouble.
Up next are Harrogate in 19th, Salford just below us in 10th and Rochdale in 23rd. Its one thing to lose to teams at the op but if we struggle against this lot fans will either call for his head or, more realistically, start staying away from VP. If he doesn't change his setup we may as well write off the season now.
When was the last time we put in good solid performance? Mansfield was a superb display to hold out but a good performance reflective of a top 7 side? You'd have to go back months.

Mansfield was a superb display to hold out but a good performance reflective of a top 7 side? You'd have to go back months. Our weaknesses are being cruelly exposed. Apart from the illness of jamie Walker, that was Hughes own choice first eleven and yet they didn't register a single shot on target. The pattern of performances is worryingly mirroring what Adams did while we were in the playoffs, and while i'll admit this squad is stronger than what Adams had at his disposal, Hughes seems reluctant to change players clearly out of form. Having made the mistake of going yesterday there was a distinct air of apathy among the travelling faithful, not raging like the Adams era but almost resigning themselves to another season going tits up due to a stubborn manager and a flawed recruitment policy. And having seen Hughes stick with the same tried and tested despite us getting gradually worse, i'm finding my enthusiasm waning very quickly. Hard to get upbeat watching a very tired and predictable style of play that results in nothing to shout about. And all this after probably the busiest summer transfer action i've seen at the club, yet its clear we need a clear out and a start again in as early as January 1st. Lower league football can really suck the life out of you.
