There’s a lot of desperate people out there who think all our prayers will be answered when Angol comes back. If I were them I’d be working on my next excuse just to be ready. They'll hang their hat on Eisa.

As predicted:
Looks to me like we’ve given the modern way a go for a few minutes then given full control to the manager again.
If this year’s signings are anything to go by I’m not sure that’s the right decision. I’d also love to know the extent of Turnbull’s involvement in the January window which brought in Crankshaw and Vernam because if that was his baby then we’ve definitely made a mistake.

And round and round we go. We just don't embrace anything that's remotely modern, or forward thinking.
Did anyone hear Adams recent interview where he was asked about the data analysts and the information they provide? His answer was along the lines of 'the way it works is, i ask them to look at things and then they give me their views'. Not there's nothing wrong with that, but his response made clear that they specifically respond to his requests, they don't provide him info proactively. Surely that's a mistake and an underuse of the resource? Surely they should be looking at allsorts?

On the flip side of that if Turnbull is responsible for signing Lavery and Robinson then he deserves to lose his job for that alone. I do agree though that we shouldn’t be going back to putting all of our eggs in the “manager is solely in charge of recruitment” basket again.

No way was Robinson a Turnbull signing.

He also made some comments about not wanting to listen to the sport’s science lot again after the defeat to Orient. The worry is that we’ve got an old school manager who is never going to fit into the modern set up that we should be striving towards.

No way was Robinson a Turnbull signing. Well given the Adams comments when he signed he didn’t look like an Adams one either.

On the flip side of that if Turnbull is responsible for signing Lavery and Robinson then he deserves to lose his job for that alone. True enough. It’s just that, from the outside looking in, we suddenly seemed to deviate wildly from the manager’s pals strategy shortly after Turnbull came in and had our best ever window. It’s a stretch, but not a big one, to imagine that Turnbull was a major factor in that. Since we went with Adams our signings have reverted to the average again and it’s disappointing. We look to be building a squad to dismantle again and if we don’t offer Cooke and Vernam new terms we’ll know we’re back to square one again. We don’t build squads, we have separate efforts. Every fucking year.

As for Robinson it’s pretty apparent that he was signed just so we didn’t come up empty handed on deadline day. We just signed someone, anyone, in an attempt to stop the natives getting restless.
A club that’s doing its due diligence doesn’t get in that position and it certainly doesn’t have the CEO ringing his podcast buddy out of desperation.

The second shaft of desperation, straight after the first when Sparks went cap. In hand to MacAnthony but Posh's cupboard was bare. Seems like the grim reaper was calling for Turnbill as soon as Adams came through the door. Get a carpenter down to Valley Parade, revolving doors needed for the staff turnaround.

Same old same old.
And when we inevitably sack Adams in October next year, we'll be back to square one yet again.
We'll have signed Robinson because he'll have been cheap, with Port Vale paying him off, and he was available. But there's a reason why players are cheap and available.

General shitness aside, didn't Mccall make out he knew nothing about Guthrie when he signed? Similar thing going on, someone involved in making awful last minute signings for us?

I've been convinced for ages something has been wrong between turnbull and Adams. Unlike most of you I prefer the manager to bring in his own players, Turnbull largely brought in 2 game wonders who are really conference level. Unfortunately the managers we've had before are shit managers and no idea what a decent player is.
It's not a Turnbull type we need it's a proper scouting network and giving a proven manager the tools to do his job.

What’s the direction we’ve now decided to head in? Are we back to the manager on sole control? Who’s in charge here, Sparks or Adams?
