Masks haven’t made a blind bit of difference, therefore we need more masks:
I’ve seen people starting to advocate for wearing them outside too now. Infections raging long after the mask mandate was introduced but apparently that’s down to the minority of people who don’t comply. Cases have risen when surely they should have dropped in proportion to the number of people wearing masks - if masks worked.
Stupid measures for frightened people to give them the illusion of control.

Only a like for like comparison would evaluate it and that's impossible. It has to have an effect though, otherwise why would people wear masks in others situations such as operating theatres?

Only a like for like comparison would evaluate it and that's impossible. It has to have an effect though, otherwise why would people wear masks in others situations such as operating theatres? It’s to prevent any saliva or sputum entering an open wound and any splashes of blood entering the surgeon’s mouth - it’s still not to stop microscopic viruses. Besides which, an operating theatre is a sterile environment and is the absolute optimum conditions for preventing infections anyway. It’s nothing like Morrison’s. The evidence for mask usage in operating theatres isn’t entirely straightforward either: link

A woman had a go at me for overtaking her down a 1m wide, half mile long snicket the other day. “WE’RE SUPPOSED TO BE KEEPING TWO METRES APART!!!”
What if someone comes the other way?

Masks have finally made it here, and I spend my time touching my face because I'm either constantly adjusting the fucking thing or having to take my glasses off because they've steamed up. Luckily there's shitloads of evidence to show how they reduce transmission by eleventy billion percent. Oh.
That said, people who refuse to wear one and make a big song and dance about it are cunts. Yes, they're bollocks, but just fucking wear one.

Taking my car for servicing today, it’s difficult to see how going to the garage and having people crawling all over my car and then getting in it later on and driving it won’t spread rona, but going round my mums will.

There's a bit of a difference between a medical professional wearing a medical mask and some nose-picking gomper wearing a scrap of cloth. The medical masks probably help a bit. Those cheap shitty facemasks I buy to avoid getting grief from shopworkers or the old bill probably do fuck all. Here's a pre-coronavirus paper on masks: bmjopen.bmj.com/content/5/4/e006577"An analysis by mask use showed ILI (RR=6.64, 95% CI 1.45 to 28.65) and laboratory-confirmed virus (RR=1.72, 95% CI 1.01 to 2.94) were significantly higher in the cloth masks group compared with the medical masks group. Penetration of cloth masks by particles was almost 97% and medical masks 44%." "This study is the first RCT of cloth masks, and the results caution against the use of cloth masks. This is an important finding to inform occupational health and safety. Moisture retention, reuse of cloth masks and poor filtration may result in increased risk of infection. Further research is needed to inform the widespread use of cloth masks globally. However, as a precautionary measure, cloth masks should not be recommended for HCWs, particularly in high-risk situations, and guidelines need to be updated."

Any possible slight benefits that masks might convey are more than negated by behaviour. Once worn the disposable ones need binning and the cloth ones washing. People wear the same mask over and over again, they touch objects around them then adjust the mask before repeating the process several times. Used incorrectly a mask simply becomes a sheet of germs that’s placed over a person’s mouth to create a warm, damp Petri dish of shite to be breathed through but anyone not playing make believe is a cunt.
