This will be Bradley Dack all over again. Someone will snap him up for a fairly significant sum (for us anyway) and then 2 or 3 years down the line he'll be worth 4 times as much.

Acid test is dead right. He wouldn't be cheap, but he'd be available for lower than market value because of his contract situation and the fact that Huddersfield shouldn't be too arsed about a couple of hundred grand of haggling.
He's proven his quality, he's got resale value and is the perfect age. He's the epitome of the type of signing we should be making.

Another of those in the Keiffer Moore nearly squad. Lets face it if a club comes in for Payne we are fucked.

I’m hoping that Rhodes is in Rupps ear.
This is a perfect opportunity to show how you INVEST rather than SPEND money. One signing like this is better than the whole of Wright, Riley, Brunker and Seedorf.
Buy quality, that you rightfully expect to sell for more in 18 months to 2 years.
This is the core of a team that could battle for a top 2 spot next season, with 4 or 5 additions and 9 or 10 binned off.
Keeping LOB next season will be a long shot, but retaining the rest is possible. Quality over quantity. It’s a fairy young squad as well, so there’s real opportunity for resale. Miller wouldn’t be expensive but you could see him developing into a 7 figure player over a couple of years. Payne could do a Dack. Colville could be a player.

And it’s lower risk than new marquee signings - the lads hereand performing. Over time, he’s only gonna get better.
Let’s show some fucking ambition for once.

He was offered to us for 450k Rahic said no, he didn't wanna give macca the tools to succeed because well we know why. It's just so infuriating because if he's been offered that means he wanted the move too

Twitter rumours suggest Portsmouth are interested in Jack. That’s that fucked then. 147’s right here, signing Payne wouldn’t be spending, it’d be investing. Obviously it’s easy for us to spend Rupp’s money and we’ve no right to expect him to spend his hard-earned on our grubby club but as transfers go Payne’s about as close to a sure thing as it’s possible to get. He stays injury free and we stay up and he’s a £2m player easy.

I’m in agreement that we should do but lets be realistic, we are getting into Peterborough territory at £450,000+ transfer fees.

They won't sell him before the end of the season. To us or anyone. It’s doubtful but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility. It looks nailed on that they’ll be relegated but even when they are they’ll be awash with cash to rebuild with. Even in The Championship, with their budget I can see them looking at better than Payne. They’ll be looking to trim the fat and get the high earners off the pay roll. Payne could be part of an early fat trim. All of this is assuming we’ll pay what Huddersfield want, which we won’t.

Payne would be a useful back up player in the Championship for them and he'd be on relative peanuts with their parachute money. Just can't see us splashing out any serious cash anyway ?.

I think that Huddersfield will exercise their option to extend his contract just like they did with Hiwula. They’d no plans to keep him long term they just wanted to make sure that they got some money for him when they did decide to sell.
I don’t see them selling him until the summer. Rumour is that he’s happy here but if a championship team comes in for him then that might change. Having said that he made the mistake of leaving his Oxford loan midway through last season and going to Blackburn where he hardly got a kick.

As has been said already Rhodes needs to be in Rupps ear on this one and Miller, those 2 players alone could potentially make back the majority of Rupp's current investment within 2/3 years. Properly speculate to accumulate rather than spending it on 3 average players. Sell Shay to Lincoln for say £150k that's some of the money right there.
