Leaving aside his ability as a player that would be an interesting signing from a contract situation. It would mean we're prepared to pay more than Southend were and we've finally found a club we can compete with.

He seemed to be the one shining light for Gills but was strangely bombed out and hardly ripped up trees at Roots hall. Would definitely have preferred otzumer and I think at 28 I don't see much room for improvement. Good option off the bench maybe

Good option off the bench maybe Looks like he got an injury at Southend and had come back towards the end of the season. He triggered an appearance clause in his contract for another year in the club's favour and Southend have offered him a contract but on reduced terms. Judging by his goodbye he seems pretty pissed off about his leaving Southend and he doesn't thank Powell. Putting two and two together, Powell wanted to use the budget elsewhere and constructively dismissed the låd with a derisory contract offer: The plus side to all this is that Powell is one of the most defensive-minded managers working in England today so hopefully Wright is a tidy, attack-minded midfielder.

From what I'm reading (particularly on the Gillingham forums) he was a bit of a one season wonder and 'average' outside of that.

Not much to go on but he was class the other year when we drew at home with Gillingham. Think he scored and he stood out much more than Dack. I'd be happy with him. Hopefully his brother will bring his wife to VP so we can all stare at her tits.

"Sounds like sour grapes to me maybe he was one of the unsettling characters in the changing room no player is bigger than the club" One character out and another one in. Hobhead will get right behind this one.

No such player. Characters are chipper and gregarious, guys with presence are reserved and brooding. Everyone knows this.

The more I read about this låd the less I like the signing. I'm getting shades of Poleon all over again. A little bit of research would tell our committee exactly what we're getting: a generally distinctly average midfielder who's had one stellar season where his goals for were inflated by a good amount of penalties.
As an aside, when reading oppositions fans forums for opinions on players it's amazing to me how the general consensus is almost never wrong. Once you allow for the park and Fordy extremes of opinion you start to form a pretty accurate picture which is pretty much always right. It kind of makes a mockery of the idea that we, as fans, should sit on our hands and shut our mouths and defer to the pros when it comes to passing opinions on players.

What was the point in releasing Nicky Law if we are going to bring in an inferior replacement? Like him or not, he's still worthy of more praise than Wright is receiving. I've read about him on 3 separate forums nkw and they all think he's crap.
