I’m starting to wonder what it would take for him to be gone by the end of the month.
If he persists with this set up and we don't pick up more than a couple of draws then it’s not inconceivable.

I reckon he'd probably know his best 11 if he wasn't always busy doing work for SKY and the like.

He'll be under massive pressure if August is a shitshow. Full away ends at Stockport and Morcambe won't take any shit if we're served it, neither at Masfield at start of September. He's only got 2 home games in this first month and he can't afford any dumbfuck performances like trying to see out a 1-0 for 70 minutes. The transfer window was like McCall 2020, everyone knows it's grossly inadequate and Hughes hasn't got any rep at for bringing the best out of his outfield signings. It could well be a complete disaster if it doesn't click quickly. Changing a settled defence, albeit with a mistake on them, will probably be the cause of any downfall. I always though McCall 2020 was assembled on the assumption the league would wind up curtailed again. I do recall it being a small and weak squad and crippling Staunton in particular.
So McCall had his excuse, as stupid as it was. If Sparks is honestly happy with this squad, whats his?

The incoming salary cap was used as an excuse. Didn't stop teams like Bolton splurging and getting promoted while we were pinning hopes on Guthrie and DMH. Part of him gambled on keeping some back for the January window but not only had he assembled a terrible, weak squad his management frailties were mercilessly embarassed. Remember Trueman amd Sellars came in when we were 23rd or something, went back to a basic set up and won something like 6 out of 7...

Trueman and Sellars understood league two. The way to get the best out of L2 players is to keep it simple. And they did get a lot out of a limited squad.
I was on the fence about them long-term. But they were young, hungry, had done a decent job in tough circumstances. So obviously Sparks sacked them for fucking Adams.

The player who had played at the highest level and a WC was useless in L2. But then the 2 amateurs who never played professionally and had a few years coaching at non-league came in and fired us up the league. I agree they were young and hungry (I hate saying that) and while being open to change knew when to go back to basics when we had to, not keep forcing something that never worked. In the end thought their weaknesses did come out and that run in was awful - maybe if they were working under the right manager or senior coach for a few years they could have been more moulded into that kind of role? It was a great thing, a wonderful thing we were locked out of games that season. Imagine witnessing the McCall games in the flesh.

Honestly, what’s going to change? There’s absolutely no point wasting any more time with this obstinate idiot any more.
He’s never been a good manager and never will be.
In Sparks we trust etc etc.

Christ.
What's the point of us being Attendance FC and all our dick waving when we can't actually make use of it and compete with the big hitters of *checks notes* Crawley and Morecambe.
So boring. So stale. So predictable.

When we sack Hughes we should pick his replacement with an FA Cup style draw. Every unemployed manager with a ball. Or pick someone who isn't on the way down. Go grab that Williamson fella. An actual manager who wants to progress up the leagues.

Could sack him now but it wouldn't change a thing if Sparks is picking his successor.

Yep.
I have absolutely no idea anymore. Bit like Rupp and Sparks.

Mark Hughes has been a dogshit manager at every single club he's been at. My Man City supporting boss still pisses himself laughing whenever Hughes comes up in conversation.
As for Swiss Toni Ryan Sparks, he's better at tying the knot on his tie than he is at knowing how to run a football club. The guy's an absolute fucking moron. You'd get better decisions by putting Chirper Bantam or Nick Kitchen in charge.
This all stops with our parasitic German owner though. He couldn't give a fuck so why would any of his staff?

Been saying since the Carlisle game that it’s only a matter of time and everything that he’s done since then has only strengthened my opinion. Sooner he goes the better but as others have said I have so little confidence in us appointing a good replacement that it’s almost pointless.
Would Darren Moore come here?

Even if he did what would it solve? We’ve had successful/experienced lower league managers, untried youngsters, McCall 38 times and experienced ‘big name’ managers in Grayson and Hughes (no idea where HopkinS fits)- all with the same result- torpor. As has been said before, the rotting fish analogy is spot on- sadly it’s one that’s so overworked its rotting itself.

The man may have played at the highest level but its a million miles from League 2. He was never a success at any previous club and his complete lack of experience and knowledge of this level is making him look a bigger chump than McCall in his third spell. I said the fucking octopus that predicted the World Cup scores could run this club better than Rupp and Sparks - to be honest it'd probably be a better L2 manager as well. As for Sparks, he can't even do his top button up, so his tie tying skills are irrelevant.
