I like sensible defensive football, I'll not lie, but it will only get you so far. Wenger always talked about taking the handbrake off. We need to do that. There's no reason why 4-2-3-1 can't turn into 4-3-3 when we're playing weaker teams. Three central midfielders, a 9 and two wingers. We've got the players. My big worry about T&S is there's no variety. I'm generally a fan of picking a formation and sticking to it- that was what really pissed me off about McCall- but we need to change it a bit. We don't need a holding DM at home to fucking Grimsby. Totally agree with you but I don’t think we have the players to mix it up a lot. The defence picks itself, FCD can be guaranteed a mistake a game but the midfield is piss poor. Take out Sutton and Cooke and who do you have? AOC, he’s ok, just ok, as an emergency stand in DM. Watt, there’s a football talent there but a lack of a football brain and a dreadful free kick or corner, Scales, a decent prospect but he’s a kid and should be played sparingly or out on loan, Ismail is finished as a pro, Pritchard injured, Evans is shit, Clarke is no better. Take the best bits of Crankshaw, Vernam and Stevens and you have one and a half good players. That’s why I think they don’t mix it up a bit, they don’t have the players. If they are still doing this in December after a summer transfer window and we’re in a similar league position they’ll be under some pressure from the crowd. The negative football passing it about the back four, breaking free down the middle with pace then sending it out to Rowe on the left to lose the ball or cross it to a centre half to head wide won’t be tolerated. Roger Owen on the other channel bangs on about five years to fix Edin’s mess, I say bollocks, almost every remnant of his reign has gone, there are no excuses next season. Promotion or Trueman, Sellars and Sparky can go Absolutely. The January signings were good but only the start, there's still too much McCall shite in the side. Evans was a pointless signing, McCall thought he was still a striker, summed it up, and he's still playing like he hates us. I don't hate Clarke like some do, but he's really getting past it, his legs won't get him where his brain wants him to, give him a coaching job. We need a strong summer and if we don't win the title or at least automatic next year, given the dogshit in this league and especially if Tranmere and Bolton both go up, then it's a failure.

Saw a tweet earlier with stats showing we'd be 3rd if the season started when the so called PE teachers took over (I hate that term, they're fucking qualified coaches), and second on points per game. I also tweeted myself the other day that a team that comes 7th in League 2, whilst then given the opportunity to take part in the play offs, has indisputably had a very hit and miss season. Its practically mid table, and the 7th spot usually goes to the team in a bit form at the right time.
So all this talk of "we're not good enough to go up", we're probably no better or worse than any team thats hoping to sneak into 7th in L2 with 6 games to go.
I totally agree with the stuff about their overly cautious approach, and I don't understand why they don't go for it. But its not whataboutery to point out that their results extrapolated over the course of a season would see us go up automatically.

The PE teachers jibe is just because they're pissed off that the PE teachers took a team McCall couldn't get a song out of and smashed it with them. It's just blind McCall fanboyism.
If you're being ultra conservative, you could say there are currently 8 teams in with a shot of sneaking into 6th/7th. There's no such thing as "not good enough to go up" in League two. It's a total free for all. 14 teams out of a league of 24 are in a position to get promoted depending on results. Last year wasn't much different, or the year before that. 6th/7th is there for the taking, especially the form Newport, FGR, Exter and Salford are on. Very hit and miss. If we can string together a few wins we can do this.
