"He’s not got blistering pace"
Well thank fuck for that, pace was the last thing we wanted.

Why have they put a picture of Iain Dowie up with this story?

Looks like we asked about McAleny as well. Are we going to continue our run of nearly signings or is Sparks going to finally deliver.

It would and yet the wankers on twitter are nipple twisting about Villa away rather than a player who could help us now. We have no hope.

Motley-Henry set to leave.McCall really doesn’t do himself any favours with his habit of constantly backing the wrong horse. Also, is it just a coincidence that our business is getting done quicker (whether it’s more effectively remains to be seen) now Rhodes has left?

Also, is it just a coincidence that our business is getting done quicker (whether it’s more effectively remains to be seen) now Rhodes has left? Rhodes was all about pessimism, i can tell you for a fact. Sparks is ambitious and has a bare CV to start building up in terms of CEO experience. He starts making bold calculated gambles and other more ambitious organisations than ourselves sit up and take notice. Simply put the CIty role should be a stepping stone to anyone looking to make a name fro themselves, he'll be on a paltry salary in CEO terms compared to elsewhere and if your good at this sort of job the monetary rewards elsewhere are plentiful. Good luck to him, seems to making the right noises.

Sparks has started well, fair play.
We're finally acting like a proper outfit. Is it just down to Sparks in and Rhodes out? I sense there's also an element of Rupp backing us a little bit more now - nothing silly, but I imagine a combination of the McBurnie money, the fright of relegation, the covid vaccine hopefully bringing some certainty of supporters coming back in over the next few weeks, and longer term appointments at the club, means he's prepared to write a few checks.
There are plenty of clubs in financial strife like Oldham. There'll be good players whose contracts are up in the summer - we should be hoovering them up now with a few nominal fees. Chuck Oldham £150k for McAleny and Bahamboula. They won't say no. Add a left winger of the same ilk, and we'll be going into the summer in a position of letting 3 or 4 go (DMH, Pritchard, Donaldson, one of Clarke or Evans, and probably Wood) and bringing the same in.
I have to admit, we're approaching this window with much more aggression and boldness than I'd expected.

I had misgivings about Sparks just being a photocopy of Rhodes, but there's been some aggression in the market so far. We're paying money to clubs for players that they don't want to lose. Even if it's Turnbull doing the hiring, Sparks has got the money from Rupp and is giving him the power to spend it.
The ruthlessness of the exits has impressed me even more. For too long we've let the dross hang around the place as "squad players", the way we've pretty ruthlessly paid them up and told them to piss off has been brilliant. Again Sparks is giving Turnbull and Trueman the power to bin off the deadwood.

Surely this is us trying to bluff and force the issue because it’s hard to believe we’re targeting better than McAleny:

McAleny not the main target according to sellars. Have we finally started to become cunts in this window by trying to unsettle players? Seems weird we're talking about targets so freely.
