Ooh, if we're really lucky we might enjoy a cup upset again one day. Fucking joke of a club.

'Listen everyone! if xxxx fans put in £xx every month, that's £xxx, xxx over xx months!'
Thats the sort of shit I've read this morning in response to it, and plenty nodding in gomperish agreement.
Meanwhile the owner worth £100m+ sits in his German castle laughing at the serfs thousands of miles away who are scraping their pennies together to keep his one part his business portfolio propped up.

Unless I’m buying signed original 70s era Ces Podd shirt to frame and hang in my office Rhodes and Rupp can fuck off if they think I’m funding some new tyres for Rupps’s racing cars or a new BMW for the shite players we have.

Let’s all fund a badly run outfit in the hope we can continue to be badly run some more in the future. Amateurs and cowboys.

The fans need to come together and grow a set. If we’re chipping in to help keep a privately owned business afloat the we should get shares in return.
If our cunts all dig deep so a multi-millionaire doesn’t have to and do it for fuck all then they’re bigger mugs than I ever dreamed.
Someone needs to set up a fund for fans to contribute. We then offer that fund to the club in return for a seat at the table. Nothing for nothing. This isn’t a new scoreboard or a kick of paint for the changing rooms, the club’s future’s at stake - it’s an opportunity.
Instead we’ll have a queue of cunts hungry to hand their cash over to a man worth £130m so he doesn’t have to pay to clean up his own mess.

You wanted a proper statement and got one. I’m guessing what’s written in that article is the reality for the majority of lower league clubs and not just us.
The reaction to the statement though (not surprisingly) has been rather comical. On one hand Rupp is going above and beyond to finance the club and yet on the other we should get the begging bowl out when we fall on hard times. Our fans can’t have it both ways.

I remember whip rounds in 1983 and in 2003 or 2004 was it and where has that left us? Why is this time going to be different? A fan board member is the way forward but we’d end up with Bronco, Roger Owen, McKeown, BigRod or a Bantams FaceBook group admin as the independent fans director. Someone who claps when the plane lands in Orlando. The focus would be on the rebirth/regeneration/reinvention of City, celebrating the historic 1984 victory over Tow Law Town and the hot water in the Midland Road gents. You’d not have a Cow’s Arsian demanding proper structure, an Andy Holt style commitment to openness and building foundations for future and running the club like professionals. I’ll send Sparks an an indignant email, that’ll teach himz

I made the mistake of getting into a facebook argument. I pulled out mentioning the loan we need to repay Rupp, and the instant response was to compare us to clubs in a worse position, and the good old 'at least we have a club' excuse. I mentioned going bust and starting again and that was the shit hitting the fan. They rounded on me like a pack of wolves, feverishly defending the club. If this was 500 years ago they'd be burning me at the stake for views of witchcraft.

I remember whip rounds in 1983 and in 2003 or 2004 was it and where has that left us? Why is this time going to be different? The comments praising the statements from Rupp and Rhodes just show you how much we're doomed. Too many people just refuse to question any narrative and are happy to accept anything that comes out. The fucking wool being pulled over everyones eyes again is what does me - as said; ultra wealthy, uninterested owner who only 'loans' us money watches on as fans pass the begging bowl around. We all know we are going to be talking about paying off Rupp's loan in 5, 10, 15 years - probably long after he's left. Initial club purchase aside, it wouldn't surprise if in terms of actual investment your average fan has put more in that he has. I mean, donating money every month... If I was sticking £30 in every month for who knows how long for, as someone suggested, and the wife saw it, she'd be all like 'They're shit, why are you bailing them out AGAIN?' I may as well set fire to that money.

We fund the club through strife so the millionaire doesn’t have to, then, when the club is finally sold, he adds 100% of the sale price to his bank account. Sounds like a cracking deal. For Stefan.

It's one reason rich people often make money - get poor people to contribute to something they have an emotional attachment to, then reap the benefit if the financial value goes up. What does the fan get, a day out at Wembley maybe? The thing about football is there's no actual product you get - no physical or digital entity to own afterwards - it's just an emotion. And rich owners, most of whom have no emotion interest in a football, sell that emotion to those at the bottom.

Funny how we suddenly become transparent with the news when the begging bowl is being handed around. Other times we're lucky to get a sniff of statement.

They do have a chance here to change the shape of the club. I like Hob's idea. If we all put into a fighting fund we want a stake in it, a genuine one.
Quite easy to do these days. Let's say 10000 put something in. Those people would have to vote on whatever decision the board is considering and the majority wins. Just thinking out loud here but it could work.

At the very least a fan on the inside would make it harder for any future Edins to take the piss.
