I'm calling this as staged. Very publicly made clear that they weren't complying. Armed police rock up. People now worried into complying. Job done. The plan seems to be to not pay the fine and force the issue to court. They’ve already raised £22k in a gofundme for legal expenses. The government are going to be facing more legal challenges than Bill Cosby.

My bet is he backs down, closes and says "My eyes have been opened, we all need to do our bit etc etc people are dying".

Firmly on the side of the gym here. There's no scientific basis for shutting them. I'm a gym bunny - its my release, and my mental health suffers even more than my physical health when I can't go. And in my gym, the members and staff are super disciplined about cleanliness and Covid measures. The whole thing stinks, and I'm convinced that we'll see real civil unrest, very soon.

Can the Liverpool gym possibly lose its case in light of this?: Apparently Puregym and David Lloyds have pledged to stand shoulder to shoulder with him and fighting for gyms to remain open. Good on him. Great PR, if he finds his way through this fucking shambles.

Bit by bit, it's all ratcheting up. Its fucking scandalous Another one for you: People were laughing at anyone who suggested a New World Order being the agenda at play, just a few weeks ago. Not so fucking funny now. What next? The Army on the street? A tank with a great big fucking gun pointed at your house? 'Do you really need to leave your house, peasant? Prove to me you are actually going to Morrisons and that you wont speak to anyone along the way'.

If anyone can be arsed, this thread is worth a read: She's cherry picked a timeframe and run a Pearson correlation on two time series. It's bullshit m9. If you look here: coronavirus.data.gov.uk/ you can see testing going up as deaths come down. Testing's been increasing since the end of April, but deaths don't rise until we get to the second half of September.

As busy as it would normally be pre lockdown days. No tanks or police around.

There's not that many covid deaths at the moment, and there's not that much excess mortality. Excess deaths should be close to zero if there's bugger all covid deaths and nothing else around that would cause more people than usual to shuffle off their perch, and it looks like this is pretty much the case give or take tiny fluctuations due to random noise. afaik, we only have excess deaths data published to 2 October and nae cunt was dying of covid in September. If you look at the excess deaths reports from 4th September onwards, fingertips.phe.org.uk/static-reports/mortality-surveillance/excess-mortality-in-england-latest.html you can see the first couple of weeks are 36 a day and 55 a day for all causes, which is fuck all given 1,105 people a day died in that first week and from the link in my previous post coronavirus deaths are down as 4-13 a day for that first week, 10-24 a day for the second week (those figures are for deaths within 28 days of a positive test), which again is fuck all. Weirdly, when I look at the PHE excess mortality report I can see a very small number of excess deaths for each of the reports from 4, 11, 18, 25 September. Her graph, though, shows excess deaths below normal to week 40 which I reckon is the end of September. All I can think is that she's used provisional numbers which have been updated since the graph she borrowed was produced - there is a note on the graph that says there's reporting delays and that 5% of deaths don't show up in the figures for a whopping 3 months. Basically, you can ignore the excess deaths thread because the graph is wrong.
