I guess it depends on the circumstances and whether you're lucky enough to have generous parents who can help financially. I'll concede a 200k house would probably be out of reach for a median income first time buyer starting from scratch. I guess you'd have to start lower on the property ladder, possibly a circa 100k apartment or small house. For someone earning net 25k, saving 10% of your income would get you about 10k after 4 years. It would be just about doable with discipline although it would be tough. Another option would be just to stay with parents, save on rent and put the 'rent' money into savings until you have enough for a deposit. I agree the income to house price ratio is too high, but as long as people are paying the asking prices the situation won't improve. One can speculate why prices are so high but i'd guess... Buy to let social landlords using the welfare system as a blank cheque. More high earners driving up prices and possibly buying multiple properties, particularly in the SE. Ditto the rise of bloated political/ corporate class. Rich foreign 'investors' dumping money into UK property as a hedge. Not enough housing to meet the demands of a growing population. Two things; nowhere that has early stage careers that pay 25k has housing available at 125k. That’s median wage and lower quartile house price. Second, the biggest factor in house price increases is buy to let private landlords. It’s almost entirely down to them. They’re jacking up the cost of water in a drought. Nothing else has had remotely as big an impact. We're hiring for an unskilled position starting at £25k plus a £3.5k bonus. Decent pay is there if you're prepared to look and work shifts and weekends.

You won't find a group of people more gullible than the ones who were duped into thinking Brexit would be brilliant. No foreigners draining the economy, the EU falling at out feet, a thriving NHS, ultimate control and trade deals galore. The majority of these were old people, ironically the same ones who accuse young folk of being stupid and gullible. Funny how that works isn't it? Recent history shows us that the older generation aren't as intelligent as they think they are. Head over to the general election thread on the other channel, read what the likes of Trevor, Bronco, Tony Wilkinson, Idlebantam etc have to say and you'll see how much 'wisdom' is amongst some of these dulltards. Not a brain cell between them, but they still try and project their perceived superiority on anyone who doesn't believe in their views from 1952. I just had a look through this and Trevor, who seems to not even be aware of the concept of punctuation, claims to have gone to Oxford Uni! Hahaha!

On course for a comfortable Tory majority allegedly.
If so Corbyn has to go.
A half credible Labour leader would've seen Labour romp home in my view.

I've never had any political allegiance.
It gets worse every time, one side says something, other side calls it bullshit. Over and over again.
And no accountability when they (frequently) lie. All want to give with one hand but take away with the other.
Never voted, won't this time. Fucking arseholes, someone should put them all in rocket and fire it at the sun.

Funniest thing is people who hang on every word either party says and believes them as gospel. On Bronco talk theres a couple of them, proper gompers. Believing whatever politically biased broadsheet they use as a toilet read, usually either the mail or the guardian.

Oh and philip Davies knocked on my Dads door the other day. My old fella had a good conversation with him. Wants to move the constituency out of Bradford to a new one in Aire Valley or summat like that. He would get my vote just for that. I'd vote again if my local MP wanted to move Queensbury to a Halifax postcode.

Seemed like a decent enough bloke but I didn’t vote for him. I’ll be holding my nose and voting for him this time though.

It makes me cringe when I hear grown adults refer to the Tories as ‘the nasty party’.
