We need a full/wing back either side 3 centre backs 3 central midfielders, 2 or 3 wingers 2 strikers and a back up keeper. And none of them can be squad filler.
Zero confidence in Sparks, Rupp, Gent or Alexandersaurus to do what's required so a all our hopes rest on Sharpe performing miracles.

Aye these two back. Smallwood and Gilliead the middle two again. Rinse and repeat.

Ah we always sign bang average players and the gullible fucks that support us never fail to say "these are squad players, wait until we've finished recruitment before judging" and alas they are it...

League 2 looks awful next season and if we did things right we should win the league with over 100 points.
We never do and we wont

Replace the outgoings with cheaper options. Every year. Then we offload someone for an 'undisclosed fee' - probably in the region of £5k, and it's called a 'good bit of business'. Like Lethal Jizzle says, the league already looks weaker. Chesterfield and any one of Barnet, Bromley, Altrincham, Solihull and Gateshead coming up. But then, it wouldn't be strange to see us get overtaken, yet again, by a team that has never been in the Football League.

Lads, nothing to worry about, it looks like we’ll have a ‘competitive’ budget next season: Can't compete with Bromley's spending power m9.

Lads, nothing to worry about, it looks like we’ll have a ‘competitive’ budget next season: Same copy and paste soundbites every season. At least they’ve added an extra buzzword. The budget will be ‘fluid’ dependent on season ticket sales. So much for Rupp’s pledges

After yesterday it's clear Platt is off because he didn't look arsed all game. Walker waved as though he's off too. It looks like Kelly is also going off the boil lately, decent at doing the old fashioned stuff but far too rash and blinkered causing unnecessary free kicks goals cards etc etc.
Got a feeling the retained list will be very early this year maybe even before the end of next week.

That midfield needs a major overhaul. Smallwood is too expensive for too little return. Gillead doesn’t give much beyond effort. Walker has two good games a season and is inured for half of it. I’d honestly be looking for a whole new midfield if it were up to me.
We also need a left back and a commanding centre back but our attack looks promising. As usual we’ve got plenty of turds to flush and will need to get rid of plenty to do the work that needs doing.

Obviosuly we'll retain more / offer contracts to others OOC, but we need to build the side around -
Cook Kavanagh Young Pointon Halliday Sam Walker Kelly isn't the finished article, but is growing on me. Not a priority to replace.
Midfield needs the biggest overhaul. I'd only take on Smallwood again if (I stress IF) we know what we're doing to bring in players to work with him.
Kavanagh and Pointon (if we tie him down) could be worth serious coin in the future if we can keep up their development. Been a long, long time since we had actual young players, with ability and potential who are actually showing it in the first team.

I don’t think we need drastic changes, just the right ones.
When our midfield consisted of Smallwood, Gilliead and Odour with McDonald as backup it definitely needed a major overhaul as it was completely devoid of attacking threat. However when you throw Walker in to the mix who has finished the season with 9 goals and 5 assists, Bobby Pointon who has reached double figures in goals/assists despite being overlooked for most of the season and Pattinson who is a proven goalscorer at this level then I think we are generally fine for midfield options. Replace Gilliead and arguably Smallwood for 2 top quality players and the midfield is starting to look very strong.
Similarly up front, for large periods of this season Cook has been our only viable option but when you consider Kavannah who has a knack for scoring and Young who has proven himself elsewhere then again, I’m not sure too much needs doing there.
Where I do think we are quite weak is at the back. Oyegoke isn’t a CB and just isn’t very good anyway. Same with Tyreik Wright who isn’t a wingback and is still living off a brief 15 game spell last season. Kelly tbf has been better than I thought he would be but can still be improved upon. Replace them 3 with sufficient quality and we can become a real force next season, although knowing City I’m sure we’ll find a way of fucking it up somewhere. A lot is ultimately going to depend on Sharpe - will his influence help eradicate our usual pre-season blunders and finally have us functioning like a well-run football club? Let’s hope so because with the division as weak as it is next season, and a lot of the fundamentals already in place a top 3 position is there for the taking.

Adam Clayton is available this summer, he’d fit right in with our usual recruitment plan, knows the club, point to prove etc

Still shows an awful lot of work required for the under contract group.
Assuming Platt signs on, then our options at centre half are no different to this year.
Smallwood and Gilliead cannot be the central midfield partnership again.
Taylor, Odusina, Wilson, Oliver should all be placed on the transfer list immediately. As should McDonald in reality. Bet there's the best part of 10-12k a week in wages there just being wasted.
I could also make a case for Oduor being listed too. Lad clearly has some ability, but I think he has zero fight and desire in him.
