He's unfortunately been diagnosed with motor neurone disease. I've been reading about it and it sounds absolutely grim.
"The average sufferer will live for two years after diagnosis. Only 10 per cent of sufferers live for more than five years."
Gutted for him. A fantastic player for us and a great professional.

Absolutely tragic news, it really is.
Fingers crossed he is in that 10% but it's a real life limiter in any case.
Shocking.

Horrible news for anyone to be diagnosed with that disease.
It somehow makes it even worse that it should happen to such a thoroughly decent bloke.
Really sad news.

Life's really shit sometimes. Regardless of his career or money in the bank he always seemed a genuine good guy. In terms of football he was never going to win the premier league but he a great pro for us and part of a side that actually gave us some enjoyment.

People keep talking about the prognosis for how many years a sufferer can expect but fail to mention the vicious degeneration that occurs within those years. It’s a truly fucking awful disease.

Without sounding like a strange stalking emotional wreck, I'm truly gutted and in total shock, feeling sick to the stomach at the thought of seeing someone I have the utmost respect for go through this. I saw my old football coach go from being healthy to a completely vegatitive state in a matter of weeks and the pain he must have gone through is quite horrendous.

Very sad and terrible news. Hits too close to home as my sister has a similar disorder, and so I can feel for him and his family. Awful stuff, and the worst part of it is that it is better if it progresses rapidly, which is a shit thing to say. My best wishes and hopes for him.
