Didn't go today. Got called into work for a breakdown.
Bit of a result really.

Went today. It was shit. O’Brien is my new fave player. Did you see him ripping in to O'connor after the second? Brilliant, I think we've got our new hero, our touchstone. Yes, he deserved it, and that’s the only reason Jim’s here. He’ll be Captain soon.

Well it was better so I suppose that's a positive. The O'Brien duo were decent, better than the Essex ponce and Pogba wannabe. Wood was also decent so hopefully we've seen the last of Chickshit. Brunker was as fucking useless as he usually is. Cunts around me applauding the donkey after he shoved one of their pussys over. Forgetting the fact he didn't even touch the ball during the time he was on. But at least uncle Edin will be happy after his too lovechildren got game time. Oh and I'll predict Isherwood will be even shitter than Brunker. Best part of the game for me was turning round at half time only to see Izzy Pitts sat two rows behind. What a stunner. Pics or you're a liar. I'll get you one next time. £10 a pop

Still creating nothing, and still conceding. Green shoots indeed.
This is what happens when you employ an amateur three way coaching set up to get a league one team ready for a new campaign, rather than getting a proper management team in. How criminal is it looking that we have Josh Wright, and as captain?? Embarrassing that he is shown up by a free agent coming in like that. We can't make wholesale changes, so either everyone starts improving quickly, or we are fucked.

Although, I may be completely wrong, I had no idea who half the team was, and (perhaps shamefully) I wasn’t really that interested in finding out. I only went today to catch up with a mate.

Think the change of manager gives the opportunity to change captain, can't see Wright getting much game time under Hopkin. Jim O'B for captain, what a guy.

Winds me up a bit that people think that because they stay to the end they can sneer at people who aren’t up for watching eleven listless incompetents go through the motions. Proper fans they’ll have you know.

The atmosphere was quite interesting in that is was truly representative of range of City fans.
At one extreme you have the full on Gompers giving standing ovations to subs- and Mark Marshall warming up FFS.
MOR types like myself alternating between, “fucking useless” and, “marginally better than Burton”.
Finally, those who are so off the scale they have probably been barred from here for being thick and/or too negative- take a bow Mr Three Phrases: Cunts, useless fucking twats and we don’t know what we’re doing. Not that I entirely disagreed with him but continually for 90 + 5 (thanks ref) it becomes wearing.
Luckily every now and then Jack Payne, and others, told me to up my clapping game instead of concentrating on theirs and it refocused my attention to the game. More of this please, and we’re on our way.

Reckon he'd have brought in a CM even if Wright and Akpan were available. Wright sounds incredibly shit, Akpan might be salvageable going off some remarks, but you'd hope a manager that was a CM would address this frailty - which he has. Hopefully he can sort our hopeless defense though. Wood sounds to have done ok. That still leaves our three centre backs and right back though. And lack of creativity, even with the likes of Payne, Scannel, Doyle, Ball - you'd hope there'd be something there with those names. Guess that's the issue with just randomly signing folk and hoping to assemble a team with a PE teacher, which is what our pre season basically was.

I will echo what others have said previously that it was an improvement from prior weeks but still a very long way to go.
Jim OB did more in that game than Wright has done all season, it was basic don’t get me wrong and is the bare minimum we should expect. Putting Wright as captain was a mistake at the start and looks even more ludicrous when you can get upstaged by someone who was let go by Ross fucking County. Lewis OB did well along with Wood but again I think it might be that the ones they replaced were that shit, it’s just a relief to have somebody that at least resembles a footballer.
Anyway enough of the positives, what has #scanz actually done since he’s been here? For me it’s the square root of fuck all, has no tricks to beat his full back and if they don’t fall for his drop of the shoulder then he becomes redundant. We’ve allegedly spent £400k on this cunt and he’s no better than Gilliead.
Payne was poor and is developing the Billy Clarkeitus, where he has to take 14 touches because two just isn’t enough. I was quite forgiving previously because he had Wright and Akpan behind him so it must have been a difficult task. However now with the two OB’s behind, who lets face it are both limited in quality but should win the ball back and play it simple, then wee little Jack has to step up. It’s his job to create things and at the moment he isn’t.
Can we stop fucking launching it to Doyle, in fact anyone, up front? It DOES NOT FUCKING WORK FFS...it didn’t work under Grayson, we hit the glass ceiling under The Fun Hoover because of it and it is again not working under Hopkin. Like it or not, McCall played in a way that negated the hoof ball and guess what, more chances were created consistently. Hoof ball just gives possession back to the opposition and if the header is won then relies on too much luck for anything to come of it.

Scannell has done OK but it’s proof that you don’t spend 400k on anyone at this level unless you’re shitting money.
I looked at there two up front yesterday. Big, strong, quick, direct, aggressive, good finishers. I can’t remember the last time we had a play like that. They have 2. One signed on a free this summer, the other has come through their youth team.
Our recruitment is abysmal.

Didn't go yesterday but when I have seen him he doesn't look fit and plays every position but the one he should be playing. What is it with our club always playing football that is against the style of the players we sign

Scannell is a good player. It's not his fault he's been playing under a clown and his 1st game under Hopkin was out of position.

The exact side that played yesterday could be made a little more expansive and I think, also make us more solid.
Shift McGowan to right back and push Scannell on.
Those 3 centre backs didn't look like they knew how to play in a 3 - maybe it can be worked on in training. For example, the spare man has to be much quicker to move across and pick people up. Yesterday was a constant case of people not knowing who to pick up. I wonder whether playing a pair might help. And McGowan doesn't look a centre back. If we're looking at free agents, I wonder whether someone like Paul Caddis might be on our radar? Right back who can play in midfield. Scottish lad, so maybe Hopkin knows of him through his connections.
Chris Baird doesn't have a club either.
And given how desperate we are for forwards... May be Darren Bent? Or even Simeon Jackson, or Cody McDonald?
