Wright is a classic midfielder who just hides from the game, lazy, uninterested seemingly judging by the small bit seen on the highlights.
Absolutely so slow when closing a cross down, the quickest he moved on highlights was to shout at the ref when the lad got sent off. Perhaps unfairly.
Anyway a clear downgrade on Law et al. If you watch the goals at Southend and then this week, carbon copy of the other week. Just stood, ball watching.
He literally has no awareness around him, for the 2nd goal, no22 moves the ball wide and Wright is looking at the ball as he jogs in to the box, then he gets in between both centre halves and bang 2-1. Mr TOWIE is stood, a mile away. Shit.
Also for the one where they somehow miss, right at the end, just watch the skipper be absolutely 110% (more like 1.1%) in closing down that cross. Lazy fucker.
O'Donnell looks no better than Doyle, in some cases worse as he is dreadful on the crossed ball seemingly, putting balls right on the keeper and he isn't coming out to clear it, the goal was partly caused by him not commanding even his 6 yard box and leaving defenders to defend right under their crossbar almost.
Chicksen shouldn't be in the side, but to play him at centre half, is criminal. No good in the air, we have moved Kilgallon on, yet O'Connor is found out week after week in the air, you just have to watch Southend / Fleetwood and see how the goals are so similar. Hopeless.
Shit recruitment, management. We might have some analyst, other clubs have 2 and 3 and see all this. Our midfield will be bypassed as they'll stick eager runners and a holding midfielder in and just take us apart. We're so easy to play against. Rubbish.

Josh Wright is astonishingly bad. It's Poleon all over again when you're left scratching your head wondering how the fuck we managed to sign this guy. Did we scout him? If so who did the scouting? What the fuck did they see in him to come to the conclusion that signing him would be a good idea?
Akpan looks like Dieng. With him and Wright in the centre of midfield we've got what simply must be the weakest first choice centre midfield pair in the league and we can't even go Dark Age to bypass it since we play one up front and we don't have a target man on the books leaving us forced to rely on a midfield that's worse than useless. Some cunt somewhere has some serious questions to answer.
O'Donnell looks alright and is very low on any list of concerns.
Chicksen is fucking woeful and always has been. That we've not only not replaced him but haven't even signed anyone to push for his spot is fucking criminal.
O'Connor looks poor to me. Very slow and error prone. Sadly, right now 'poor' puts him above at least four players who rate as out and out shit so he'll escape a lot of criticism.

When was the last time we had a midfielder as bad as Wright? Even some of our average players of the past such as Poleon, Dieng, Hanson etc have had one or two plus points. Wright? Genuinely can't think of a single thing he does well.

This is pretty much bang on although at this stage Dieng looks a world beater compared to Wright and Akpan. The summer recruitment is looking worse and worse every game. It looks more like the cheap option available rather than a concerted effort to get players who would work well together. Honestly, whoever thought Wright and Akpan would work together as a midfield two needs sacking, the fact its Abbott and Rahic means the club is pretty much fucked. No wonder our transfer activity in and out has pretty much killed the club in two seasons.

The thing is you can get shit midfielders who lose out in every tackle they make, header they contest or pass they attempt. Wright does nothing. He makes no tackles, contests no headers and passes to him are just a way of making the ball someone else's problem. It's early days so I'm not committing just yet, and in the face of very stiff competition, but on the basis that he's not shit because he tries and fails but because he simply doesn't try anything he might well become the worst I've ever seen.

Josh Wright is fucking tragic. The bloke does fuck all other than having a go at someone once a game. Can't pass, can't shoot, can't tackle, can't do anything the useless cunt. He's an absolute disgrace and him being captain sums up our club. Gutless, clueless and even worse, devoid of any talent.
O'Donnell looks fine. No concern there from me.
O'Connor is also fine. It's no surprise the centre backs look suspect when the full backs can't be arsed stopping crosses and the midfielders can't tackle.
Speaking of full backs, Chicksen is the worst fullback I have ever seen at any level. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to sign this cunt? Oh wait. Can't tackle, can't pass, can't head, and gets pushed over by a light breeze. Ched Evans pulled out his rape special on him for that second goal. Give me Marcel Seip over this fraud at left back any day.
Akpan - lazy and uninterested. Has a good few moments per game which automatically makes him better than Wright. But in truth, shite.
Miller - runs around a lot but nothing else. Shite.

Saw this in pre season, i said to fat ade at the shrewsbury game to keep an eye on Wright and Akpan because i wasn’t sure what they actually did in pre season. Wright is the worst of the two, he has no USP at all. He can’t tackle or head because hes always a couple of seconds behind the play so never gets there in time. When not with the ball he just ambles round the pitch but never actually does anything. Watch the goals, he usually ends up just inside the box but not picking anyone up. You can’t suddenly become this bad, i’m presuming other clubs he has been at fans have either said the same as we are or he has had a decent central midfielder covering the fact he is so bad. Another Abbott disaster?

I thought we'd signed Wood to push for his spot but it sounds like he's no better than Chicksen. Apparently played LM when he came on yesterday in keeping with our new strategy of playing people anywhere but their normal starting position. O'Connor doesn't look that bad to me. Admittedly I'm judging him by the standards of our current squad. He's no Rory McArdle though. Our transfer business has been so poor - last year and this - that Edin's only hope of recouping the money spent is by arranging for an 'accident' at the training ground and claiming on the insurance.

I'm only judging goals / highlights so O'Donnell critique could be harsh, not sure on O'Connor at all though.
Wright looks woeful doesn't he. One good season at Southend about 3 years back, no one there gave a fuck when he came here.

Scandelous that Wright was made captain. Surely the keeper, or one of our centre backs like mcgowan or o'connor would be more obvious? Centre midfield is so vital, looks like we have bollocksed up this area quite significantly. Left back as well. And upfront. No one knows what's happening with Reeves. I realise he's no great shakes, but must be a better option that Wright if ever fit and available??

Rahic probably thought that the boxes at VP would be packed to the rafters with celebrities and hangers on if he made the Essex wanker top boy.
