The appointment of Collins highlights Edin's utter contempt for the post of "manager" / Head Coach. It's become clear that Edin thinks all you need to work in pro football is to have kicked a football, to have watched loads of games and to have a pair of stones big enough to have a go at it. That and a pig-headedness sufficient to ignore / permanently dismiss all the people who tell you that you are wrong. Edin will tell Collins what to do with tactics and team selections because he (Edin) thinks that he (Edin) is just as qualified to be manager as he (Collins) is. It's some kind of syndrome. Like Richard Branson wanting to be an astronaut or Kim Jong Il being a movie director and golfer. He is suffering from an illness. An ilness that allows you to think that if you've got the cash and the cajones - then you deserve the chance just as much as those who have dedicated their whole lives to it. The astounding thing is we have fans who are right behind him - which is kind of the worst / saddest part of it.

Noticed that collins said that central midfield had "excellent quality" before we signed akpan. Edin has already got his claws in then I see...

If this was a tv show, it'd be the football club version of Kitchen Nightmares - owner that's clearly deluded whose dream was to own a restaurant for no other reason to be his plaything and not an actual business, has hired a head chef/manager way out of his depth, the kitchen/playing staff are all producing shit that the customers/fans pay to eat/watch.

Yeah owner reckons he knows a thing or two about cooking having been to a fair few restaurants over the years...

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who was at the game last night.
Who was on the touchline shouting at the players and issuing orders?
Did it look like Abbott was the one in charge and Collins and Drury were the silent partners, or what?

I saw on twitter someone suggesting that Drury looked like the one who was dominating the technical area. Apparently Abbott took the warm up before the game showing the players about one touch passing. We then proceeded to hoof it all game up to Wyke then Brunker. It's pretty sad to be typing these statements.

I notice Collins is at it again. He's gone from telling us that the players will give it everything and that the game against Guiseley will be worth the wait, to pre season friendlies don't matter and "it's just about fitness", back to telling us that the honeymoon period is over suggesting that we are now going to take them seriously again. In other words, he really hasn't a clue what he's doing and his assistants who are just as amateurish aren't having much influence either.

I am going Tuesday to cast my eyes over our new squad. Not expecting anything tbh, I realise we normally lose all our pre season friendlies, but now is the time to reassure fans that we do actually have a team who can play!

The following extract explains why the manager search went on for 6 weeks. We were speaking to experienced candidates and rather than letting them bring in their own assistants, Rahic was going to give them one In Greg Abbott:
"With my illness, I listened from a distance to what was going on. Edin was speaking to the two lads (Collins and Drury) and they were creating an impression on him.
“With him looking at other people and not finding exactly what he wanted and those two impressing, he spoke to me and prepared me for working alongside somebody. Not even these guys at first.

McCall wanted to bring in his own backroom staff which is standard procedure in football, Rahic originally objected then reluctantly agreed when he realised we were already well into pre season. Ironically, part of the team McCall brought in was Greg Abbott, the same man who Rahic holds in very high regard.

Not even these guys at first. That's fucking nuts. Just how narrow a demographic were we limiting ourselves to? • Must be a coach rather than a manager or at least a manager prepared to work as a coach. • Must accept that they have only a small percentage say on what players we sign. • Must accept that Edin will have a hand (however small) in tactics, training etc. * Must accept Greg Abbott as an assistant. • Must play a particular style of football as stipulated by the chairman. • Must accept Chairman will want to pass comment and advice on losses or tactics post-game. • Must be adept at bringing through youth without much say in which youth players we sign to bring on. • Must be prepared to work with a limited budget relative to the league. • Must either bring young, saleable assets through or league success or be considered a failure. And that's just off the top of my head. It's no wonder we ended up with the PE teacher.

At least we’re building a better squad. If it goes tits up with collins, whoever comes in should have a better chance.
There’s some noise on Broncotalk that some areas of the pitch still look a mess. You just know we’ve done a half arsed job on the cheap.

It'll be markedly improved but in the depths of winter I reckon people are going to be disappointed.

You know, the ones that were telling us that the previous owners only masked the issue and that the current ones are instead providing us with a permanent solution because they are heavily investing in our infrastructure. Cunts.

Is it just me who reads his quotes and automatically it reminds you of Steve keen/ David Hockaday/Chris Hutchins? Pretending like they believe in what they say but only because of the strings they are attatched to and guns pointed to their head.
Nothing against the guy but I think he's out of his depth and it isn't going to last that long
