I don't think the richest clubs have always been the most successful. Man Utd were undoubtedly one of, if not the, richest team in England in the 70's and 80's and didn't win the league in those decades and only the odd FA Cup until Fergie arrived.
I miss teams like Villa, Derby, Forest and Ipswich coming through and doing really well. Teams that have been formed by a manager over a few seasons. These days it's just a few teams collecting the best players from around the world at great expense. Stories like Leicester winning the league are so rare and it's getting dull watching the same handful of clubs at the top of the Prem at least.
Even the atmosphere is garbage, but it will be when stadiums like Old Trafford are full of tourists from around the world. The Prem are killing the goose that laid the golden egg by pricing out the supporters that made attending games such an event and one of the reasons that made watching games in this country so special . I miss that intimidating atmosphere as well to be honest, it's got a bit too safe and family friendly for me (propa norty fifty year old I am). Not that I'm saying people should be afraid of being beaten half to death. Just the crowd being so intense and into it that it made it worth going just for that alone sometimes.
If I was a teenager I doubt whether I'd be travelling around the country watching my team. Everything's so regimented and organised that it's taken all the fun out of it, kids can't fart these days without being threatened with a ban. Although I really don't understand the whole 'No Pyro, No Party' nonsense. What's so good about a bit of coloured smoke?

You're spot on. I remember first going to football in the late 80s. I was scared. Scared but excited. I wanted more of that. You don't get it any more. It's all so sanitised. It's now become boring and it's the fans that have allowed or to happen.

I just wish the premier league would fuck off and disappear up its own ass. The super clubs should just fuck off and form an NFL type franchise system. The gravy train hangers on who make up the numbers (Bournemouth, Town, Watford etc) getting a reality check, back in a reformed football league and fighting over the scraps like everyone else.
