Rupp turning up and statements like this makes me wonder if they're trying to soften the blow when Grayson walks.
'We may not have a manager or any decent players, but look at all this premium top soil and grass seed.'

I think the reality is something along the lines of, Rupp has no intention of pumping money in, but won’t want his current stake to be pissed away if he can help it. He’s the successful business man and just in the way he talks you can tell he has more humility and awareness than Rahic. He’s probably had a look and is offering insights - or direct orders - on how to address certain problems. And it’s not rocket science. Empower people to do their jobs properly.
I still think Grayson will leave but it wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve increased the 2m budget offer to try and keep him. Particularly when you consider that we could be in for a sizeable windfall if mcburnie moves this summer.
And I say that Rupp won’t pump money in, but perhaps there’d be an appetite for some measured investment. For example, what’s the current ST sales figure? 14k? What would another 5k get us? All things considered, about half a million? Imagine announcing Grayson on a long term deal and an immediate big signing. ‘Here’s Josh Cullen for half a million’. You’d have a big wave of sign ups there and get your money back through ST sales, plus you have an asset that could genuinely be worth a lot more in a year or two.
Wishful thinking maybe. Let’s see what the next few weeks bring.

The statement made said the square root of fuck all.
As others have said how can they say that performances will improve and then say but we don’t understand what went wrong...it doesn’t make sense and is, like always, just some PR bullshit that gets lapped up by the Gompers with the mental capacity of a potato.
As for Grayson staying, I agree that if he does it will generally mean that he’s a) been given a decent budget that he thinks he can work with b) he’s personally got a pay rise. However and I can’t stress this enough, if he turns out that shite week in, week out, then he will be doing it in front of less than 10k fans. His safety first style will get us so far but we will hit the glass ceiling again, just like we did with the Fun Hoover, because the style is outdated even ignoring that it’s fucking dull to watch.
All in all we’ve had fuck all answers about anything and like we’ve all pretty much said....less mouth, more trousers. Once I see a Bradley Dack along with a proven striker come into the building then I may change my opinion but until then, I don’t believe a word that comes out of their mouths.

I agree. Grayson's come in, seen what everyone bar Edin knows and never misses an opportunity to let everyone know what he thinks of the squad - he wants to give the squad the overhaul it so desperately needs. If Edin's not prepared to listen to a man with his League One credentials then we really are fucked. Grayson stays then he'll keep the pressure on Edin to get us a squad that can go up. If he goes we'll end up with an average yes man and the cycle will start again. On a related note, and I've said this before, but if Grayson does stay then there's no place for Abbott. Grayson doesn't need to go to Abbott for advice on the quality of players he needs. Agree with all of that. Abbott's an interesting one. Grayson was more than happy for him to stay after McCalls departure, so it wouldn't surprise me if he stayed on next season. The transfer committee will probably consist of Grayson, Snodin and Abbott assuming Grayson is our manage next season. I got the feeling that Abbott's opinion under the McCall regime was taken as gospel, I doubt he'll have as much influence this time. Grayson will already know the players he wants, he'll come in saying I want X, y, z and Abbott will do a bit of player research every now and then. Doesn’t Grayson use Ian Gibson to do his scouting ?
