THe key diff between this and the previous regime is I trust Rahic to drive a hard deal, unlike lawn who rolled over and waited for his tummy tickling

I said earlier, Rahic is playing real life football manager. I think where most of the angst comes from is when new owners come in, like they have at Barnsley just recently, the expectation is of better financial clout in the transfer market. Unfortunately that is now shown to be not the point. Forget dipping you toes in the water with some transfer fees that are less than some championship footballers weekly wage, it's the wages that attract better players and we have cut our wage budget. Couple that with cheap ticket prices and the transfer bargain bin looks like raising its transfer window head again. Truth is we cant compete with wage demands with half our own division, an admirable but very naive strategy in a world where the folding stuff rules the roost. McCall is arguably over achieving given what is at his disposal.

So, a cup run will define what we can do in the window.
We're definitely in for Kieffer Moore though. Definitely.

Never mind a fucking cup run, the half a mill we'd have had to bid for Moore to have us in the hat would make it easier to get players in. We never stood a chance of Moore and Rahic knew it. We'll end this window having spent very little but at least we'll have a warchest and be better prepared for next summer. Again. Fucking jam tomorrow.

Rahic, "Keiffer here's the deal £500 a week and the rest in bonuses, how does that sound?" Moore, no words only the sounds of the exit door being slammed shut and the shrill of laughter across the car park....

If Rahic tries to crack on that our January business is going to be seriously curtailed by missing out on £67k while simultaneously wanting us to believe we were in the market for a £500k striker I'm joining team Ricc .

I've realised what it is that irks me about Rahic. When things like transfer windows and pre-seasons are on the horizon he's quick with the big talk, 'we will be ready', 'there's money available' but when the day arrives the rhetoric is suddenly tempered, 'difficult market', 'money is in instalments so it's not in the bank as such'.
When it comes to having a mic shoved in his grill he's basically a slightly more sophisticated Lawn. If he doesn't want people to be disappointed and pissed off he should stop getting their hopes up.

I bet there were still some supporters who clapped them off. As for Rahic i expect he is absolutely livid, maybe he wasn't aware of McCall's pathetic cup record as manager at VP.

When it comes to having a mic shoved in his grill he's basically a slightly more sophisticated Lawn. If he doesn't want people to be disappointed and pissed off he should stop getting their hopes up. I posted something similar on C & B earlier. Atleast Lawn was honest about not having a pot to piss in. Rahic comes out all guns blazing and fails to back up his bold statements. "I do actually agree with the majority of what's written in both posts. Most lower league clubs need cup runs, we are staying within our means etc, but the higher expectations that I have (and many others I'm sure) come from the owners themselves. Things such as "Bradford City confirm Armstrong interest in striker chase" , "Bantams linked with Agard in striker search" ,"Rahic confirms substantial offer for striker Moore" , Splashing the cash, Getting into the Premier League etc etc. There's so many specific quotes and examples I could give you which make myself and others think "wow, we are really going for this". Since they have arrived, they've bigged themselves up and have made some bold statements. And yet, this is often contradicted with articles and quotes from senior figures at the club which suggest the complete opposite. For me it's one or the other, either we have made "competitive" bids and offers for some of the best players in this division who demand very high salaries, or we are running a tight ship and a cup run will determine our transfer activity. If we have a small wage budget, why try and bring such players in? Does the fact that we made competitive bids for such players mean that actually, we don't have a modest wage budget? Those that were against posters who were saying that the Moore bid was a smokescreen (an overwhelming majority) but also agree with everything Rahic has said in the above articles can't have it both ways. Mixed messages lead to mixed and often confused expectations. Most of it comes down to how to interpret it."
