Thought this deserved it's own thread.
Is he Stuart's way of sticking two fingers up at Rahic (lack of options) or does he genuinely rate him?
Either way it's worrying. He is shite. We're playing with 10 men. No confidence, no awareness, no positional sense.
It's painful to watch. He has done nothing but score two decent goals. Nothing.

I think it's his way of sticking two finger up at Jones. McCall can fuck off with this, 'he's not showing enough in training' bollocks, there's more to this.
On Patrick I'd politely describe him as 'raw'. He needs a loan to League Two at best and see where he goes from there. He's not a League One quality first team player.

I'm guessing Jones was the striker that wanted out in the summer and not Wyke

There is something there, but he's not Wells - he shouldn't be a regular starter and is badly shown up towards the last 30 mins when he lack of professionalism comes in - failing to hold the ball, playing hospital passes and shows no game management wether we're winning or losing.
Problem is what position should he be in? He looks likes he's out of position on the wing or in the middle at the moment.

Despite scoring a couple of good goals, he's nowhere near league 1 standard at the moment . My gut feeling is that he's going to get more leeway because of the clubs philosophy. Rahic is hoping that he finds form , a team above takes a punt on him and we profit from it, but in order for that to happen the player/players in question need to be a class above and a standout in this division. Patrick, Robinson and Hanson are not even close to achieving that. Championship clubs wouldn't even pay huge amounts to buy Cullen or Burke, who have 10 times more ability than any of our youngsters. The best thing for Patrick is that he gets loaned out to a league 2/conference team and he learns the very basics first. If he can do that, he'll have half a chance of succeeding. The same applies to the other youngsters we have. Given our aspirations of promotion, no way should we be throwing on untested youngsters in Hanson and Robson in the hope that they get us out of jail, it's not going to happen.

Given our aspirations of promotion, no way should we be throwing on untested youngsters in Hanson and Robson in the hope that they get us out of jail, it's not going to happen. I see the logic in that. Because as he's a striker he's a more fashionable sales prospect than say Danny Devine? He scores a goal as he's forced to start due to injuries then immediately rewarded with a 3 year deal. The intention might have been had he got 10-15 this season and a few more next year we could look at selling on? I like Devine - he had a good first season considering he was thrown in at the start and was forced into a variety of positions - and thought he really was one for the future. But he's just been frozen out and doesn't get a sniff these days, and unfortunately will probably be at somewhere in lower L2 or non-league within 2 years. But its that lack of seriousness at times that pisses me off with Patrick. Doesn't matter if he's 18 or 38, L2 or Premier League, some of his touches and attempted passes are pub quality. But as a priority teach him how to trap a ball when he receives a throw in so it doesn't go straight out off him FFS. I want to hit him every time he does that.

Regarding Patrick, he's not even that young. We are not dealing with a 18/19 year old teenager here. He'll be 22 next year. He's the same age as Gilliead and only a year younger than Jones when we first signed him. With Jones and Gilliead we expect goals and assists yet with Patrick we just want to see signs that he's capable of becoming a professional footballer. Expectations are a funny thing.

I was expecting better arrivals in the summer knowing that what we had barring Wyke wasn't good enough for league 1. At 22 years old i'd expect a paid footballer to be able to do the fucking basics.

I'm sick of this 'give the kids time' bullshit. No, no I won't. I support Bradford City and I want them to progress up to the Championship and I don't give a fuck whether we do it with a team of 35 year olds.
