Thoughts on how the season is shaping up? I think there is one point difference to where we were at this stage last season. Football wise i don't think we are any better, we were more creative last season, just not clinical with a forward line of Hanson, Clarke and Hiwula. One big fucking difference there is Charlie Wyke. Don't think the likes of Poleon, Patrick and Jones are any better than what we had last season. Midfield has shown some promise, with Vincelot probably been the best of the four usual choices. Reeves has blown hot and cold and as yet hasn't looked any better than Cullen no matter what any gomper cunt says. Law still has the same problems with invisible force field around the goal. Gilliead ain't no Mark Marshall. McCartan . Defence wise the two centre backs have played well but do look susceptible to pace. Chicksen not good or bad. McMahon now a key figure in a team that struggles for creativity, due to his set piece delivery. Doyle . Basically if Wyke gets injured we are fucked. Take him out and i think we are slightly worse than last year. The division itself looks shit and that has shown in most of the games this season. Position wise we are well set but i have this nagging doubt from what i've seen that without Wyke and McMahon's set pieces the goals will dry up.

That's a fair assessment. I'd take last seasons midfield over the current one any day of the week. Put Mark Marshall in this team and we'll be unstoppable. As things stand though Wyke is carrying us, take him out and we'll struggle.
Although we haven't played anyone particularly brilliant so far the league table suggests that it's a tougher division this season. The teams at the top are far more consistent than they were last season. We are averaging 2 points a game and are not even close to 2nd spot.

What is it, 11-12 games in? I think we're doing reasonably well in terms of the actual performances, but the results have been good so far.
We are a first half team when you look at the stats - before Bury we'd only conceded 2 first half goals but 11 in the second half, and the first half ones were Blackpool and MKD. Similarly our goals scored Tay is similarly lobsided, though not as much. We really have to win a game by half time.
I don't think we've been tested by any really good sides however - thought MKD though not at the top would have a real go with their pace and energy but the ludicrously early red did turn it into a non game. It's still early in the sense of really strong teams at the top haven't emerged (think of the top 2 last year) but for me we'll struggle against the other top 6 sides like we did last year.
We rely a hell of a lot on set pieces of well - ive been waiting for us to come up against opponents that can nullify that threat to see how we cope, but McMahons injury has brought that concern to light.
In terms of personnel, a proper quality left winger in January could really see us kick on. We don't have on at the moment and Gillead really doesn't produce attacks or goals like Marshall did.
I think we could be in a great position come January, but we have to strengthen.

Doing well in a poor league with our only good 3/4 players carrying a bunch of average ones. If we're still in this position come January we need full backs who can defend, a left winger, a real bastard in the middle not some French bloke who looks like one but misses 90% of everything, and a really clinical striker. Then we might be near
