What a misery this is. Dreadful goal to concede.
Smallwood's set pieces are beyond embarrassing for a 'professional' footballer, he has zero ability when taking them. It's so bad if he actually takes a decent one I'm convinced he never intended for it to go where it did. He has to be out the door in the summer.

We had to win that second half, but made a right bloody meal of it. Great to see Halliday score another winner at least, someone who can actually hit a shot.

How many chances did we miss today?
We conceded a really poor goal too yet were reasonably solid other than that.
I want Smallwood gone mainly because his wages will be disproportionate to his output but I don’t think that he’d get half the criticism that he does if he didn’t take (and waste) set pieces. His all round game looks better in this 352 as well where he can just focus on being the ball winner instead trying to be a playmaker.

Why is it that Smallwood has been on set pieces under various managers? Surely not?

I can't get over that attacking and defending set pieces has been a staple of L2 for many years, yet it's something we've neglected in it's entirety for most of the last 5 years we've spent at this level.
Hughes especially never saw it, like he didn't want to accept it's a khazi tactic for the khazi league.
It's a comeback win but it follows the patter of so many other games where we concede the first goal in the first half. Up until a few games ago if you had a league table based on first halves alone we were rock bottom of it.

It was a hollow win. Nothing worth celebrating. Wrexham and Stockport promoted. Two recent non-league teams who have overtaken us. We won't do anything next season. Be another midtable finish with Alexandersaurous in charge.
