Not been sparkling but we took our chances and we're 2-0 up. Restricted them to just that free kick, so can't complain.

29% possession, 4-0 up. That’s proper tactics.

29% possession, 4-0 up. That’s proper tactics. Was just going ro say the same. We've had 'em here. They must be well pissed off with this result. Not bad for us though. 11 shots, 7 on target and 4 goals. That's a solid return that is

Was a good game to watch, thought apart Kavanagh they all did pretty well. All 3 cbs were outstanding and we never looked like conceding. We've beaten 2 of the better teams in succession so we all know what happens against Sutton on Saturday.

The thing with the goals is they all came from open play, from being positive, players taking chances to get in positions, not go backwards or slow the play down...
3 clean sheets in a row now. Defence last night, and the organisation as a team, covering etc. was super. There's still the gaffe in them as there is at any L2 side but we've found something that works, so let's stick with it.
Very good game from Walker too, the few saves he had to make and when needed to command his area.
As I said last night at HT the football wasn't brilliant in terms of full on entertainment but it was positive and confident. I'm not moaning about anything or anyone, it was a 4-0 at home and you can't no enjoy it. Good job team.
Now don't fuck up against the bottom side.

There was a short spell in the first half where City were pinned in the corner of Kop and Midland Rd, where Kelly, Gilly, Smallwood and KevMAc tiki-taka'd their way out of trouble beautifully, played it down the line to Kavanagh who almost, dare I say it, marauded forward for 15 yards and played a great pass to Cook..who was on his heels and lost the ball. Best bit of play I've seen all season and is the sign of players playing with confidence. Likewise second half, when we were playing pretty decent balls in the channels for Cook to run on to he was busting a gut to get onto them.
No doubt I'm reading too much into it but it certainly felt like something has clicked. Maybe the "Fans forum" has shown them that we're more pissed off with what goes on above them than we are with the players themselves and they came out of their shells.
Alternatively, it could be that having a keeper who dominates his area has spread confidence to the back three and beyond. Anyway it was much better to watch.

We've beaten 2 of the better teams in succession so we all know what happens against Sutton on Saturday. Thought Kavanagh had a good game, always showing for possession, working back and was in the right place at the right time to score. Compare and contrast with Chapman, OK not everything he tried came off but more did than didn't. A very good team performance all in all, as has been said the back three were rock solid, Kelly especially seems to have blossomed in to a capable defender who is comfortable on the ball. And have to agree about Walker, he looks to be a real find, that rare mix of being a shop stopper who also commands his box and has decent distribution. After Saturday's performance we seem to be showing the confidence in our own ability that GA has been talking about. Positive signs at last.

It's what he does with the ball that let's him down, from the 3 matches I've seen of him 9 times out of 10 it goes anywhere but a completed pass or shot. Yes he scored and had a hand in another but my dead gran could have tapped the goal away. My sons coach used to coach him a couple of years ago and keeps assuring me we have a player but I've yet to see it. Also a special mention to Ridehalgh (boring I know) for coming on with 20 mins left as a LB on a mud bath pitch, making 1 tackle costing us momentum and possession about 6 times and walking off the pitch with a perfectly clean kit.

Who's doing the photo graphics for us? Primary kids could get the outline better than this. And I know I'm labouring this point but how big is his head compared to his body?
