After a dodgy start we're starting to look a bit more of a team. There's not been drastic changes to the team or the formation which proves it was both Hughes himself being an arrogant cunt and his stupid tippy tappy round the back boring bullshit. I wasn't overjoyed with his appointment and he was probably the 4th or 5th choice of that fanny running our club but he's just getting on with it.
Lewis is looking calmer and more like his old self, Tompkinson has come in and played very maturely and now Taylor and Ridehalgh are out we look much more solid at the back and we're scoring goals. Some big tests now but we've passed the first today and if we can up 8-10 points over the next 4 games we will be going into the 2nd half of the season with a chance of scraping the play offs.
No gomping yet but it's promising

The press that lead to the first goal... no chance we'd scored that under Hughes, Adams etc.

He’s simplified our game and stuck to basic principles that fit this league and our squad. Good start

I’m still not sold on Alexander, but the fact he was the mobile phone salesman’s 5th choice makes it more likely he’ll be decent.
Another good win today

Boot the ball, chase the ball, win the ball, have a go. This league is shite, and just getting the bare basics right will get you up there. Its not pretty, but christ is it so so much better than the approach Hughes had.

If we can find the 2/3 players needed to make us a real threat in January we could do something like we see other teams do.

Goes to show what a competent manager can do. Wasn't keen on him getting the job and I still have doubts, but the change in mentality for the players reminds me of when parky came on board and had that run in the paint trophy. Hopefully he can continue getting results but this season hinges on January (as is always the case)
Still continuing my one man boycott tho, not putting another penny into that leeches pocket

With a bit of ambition shown in January and Gent not serving up more of the mostly steaming dog eggs that have arrived on loan recently. I could see City having a good crack at the playoffs in the second half of the season.
As long as the recent form isn't just another in a long line of false dawns we've seen down at VP.
Not getting at all excited just yet, but what we've seen so far has been much more like the 'get the basics right, play to your strengths, don't over complicate things' approach that the support has been asking for and more often than not gets teams at least challenging in this league.

It's a bit like when Trueman and Sellars came in when we were 22nd in the table, got us doing the basics then won something like 7 out 10, embarrassing McCall in the process.
They were never going to be a long term answer and it showed a few months after when they went on the run. Hopefully GA can build on this initial reaction he's gotten and showing up Jurassic Mark in the process.

Another win but again the opponents were awful again, 6 wins on the bounce but all against teams of kids and terrible league 2 teams.
Fingers crossed the next 3 games see us show the same form against 3 of the toughest teams we've played once already. Then I'll get moist

Where’s Pointon though? Is he injured or is Alexander well on his way to ruining one of our most promising players?

How many times have we seen us lose to those shit teams though? And I’m also worried about what Pointon’s total absence means, but it’s hard to argue with a manager on a 6 game winning streak.
Just have to enjoy it while we can, everything isn’t suddenly rosy and there’s a whole January to fuck things up but it’s decent at the moment. I might even go on Boxing Day.

Where’s Pointon though? Is he injured or is Alexander well on his way to ruining one of our most promising players? Kept safe and getting ready to be sold in January? That aside, he's got L2 standard players trying to be good at L2 football, not trying to make them something they're not just becuase it works at a more elite level.

Where’s Pointon though? Is he injured or is Alexander well on his way to ruining one of our most promising players? Who do you drop? In this formation you can only drop Walker. You can argue that he should be on the bench, but you should never argue for a player over the team's success.

While he stills has a lot to learn and improve on he's more intelligent and better than all 3 of them

No doubt he's improved the basics and I do like how we're relentlessly pressing. But the football is really ugly to watch. I missed the Donny game but was at Gillingham and that was something out of the dark ages. No interest in playing football, just hoof hoof and more hoof. It's lazy football and I'll never rate it.
