When we bring in two undisclosed fees for Lewis and Young this month and don't spend a penny for anyone we bring in, maybe the last few will see Rupp and Sparks for what they really are. Not Park though, he's too far gone that cunt. They won't. If you don't see it now, you don't see it.

There's no point anymore. I can't accept that we're now just a Crawley or Harrogate and waste my time and money watching us bumble around L2 hoping that we develop a player to sell on
That sounds like a horrific way to spend Saturdays.
I'm not going again until we're actually worth watching. Until we actually have ambition to go somewhere.

Truth is, Carlisle is a more attractive option than us, just as Lincoln is, just as Wycombe is, just as whoever is.
I don’t mind bringing him in on a free and making some money when he goes, it’s just we all know the money will either get jizzed up the wall on shite or- more likely- wing its way back to our obergruppenführer.
We’ve got the infrastructure of a pub team and that’s why we’re wallowing around getting bummed at home by pub teams.

It's an odd one in the way that with 17 games left they're pretty much 3 wins from safety, so not at all like Barnsley when we turned them down. I don't think it's as black white as what many are saying I.e., just about money and going to a L1 team. Contract / money aside... Maybe Lewis feels he isn't going to develop under GA like he did under Hughes? IIRC Lewis put out an interview praising MH after he left and how it was down to him that he had a career. Maybe he wants to be that footballing GK and not just someone who lumps it forward? Maybe he wants a better standard of coaching than the reserve goalkeeper? Maybe he just sees Carlisle as a more ambitious club, with resource and the right set up to build, even if they go down this year. In comparison he sees the long term future here under Rupp and Sparks and being sustainable at all costs bleak and going nowhere. As a club we should have tried to extended his contract in the summer. But no, of course we wouldn't do that.

Lewis is a bright bloke by all accounts, so he'll definitely be getting out of this vacuum of a club and resting safe in the knowledge that a relegated Carlisle has a significantly improved chance on City of being promoted back to league one sharpish. Like fuck you'd want to live anywhere near Carlisle, standard of life would be shite in your downtime. Yet players would rather suffer that inconvenience knowing that the team has a genuine plan in place to go somewhere and do something with itself.

Official, he's gone.
The real fun now begins... Will Doyle be starting on Saturday, and who if anyone else will be the long term replacement?

I hope Doyle is better for Saturday, he was limping like he'd been bummed on Tuesday night.

Apparently the replacement is Sam Walker who Colin Doyle coached at Kilmarnock journeyman shite goalkeeper not deemed good enough by several league 2 teams. Yup that's the man

GA: "Doyley, we need a keeper, quick - any names?"
CD: "I know a guy..."

Can't wait to hear from Sparks in the T and A later, beating his chest:
"We've loaded the deal with lots of add-ons that are favorable to Bradford City. We'll be seeing a six figure sum each time he gets called up to the Trinidad and Tobago team" Fuck off Sparks, ya slimy twat.

Carlisle come down they’ll come down with a plan and go straight back up. Either way, he’s better off there than he is here. Good luck to the lad. Can’t believe I’m saying any of this. Fuck Rupp.

Lewis sees himself as a Premiership level keeper in the making. He was on the bench in the prem for years, so he'd be daft not to.
He dropped down to us to get some football under his belt but was always going to want to start moving back up the leagues.
That isn't going to happen with us any time soon so he'd have been daft to stay with us from a career perspective.
By all accounts he's gave a good account of himself here. He's done well for us. Shame to loose him but not a suprise and we'll have got some kind of a fee too so best we could have hoped for really
