I think people are getting ahead of themselves, he is a great goalkeeper and we as fans want 5 million and a 50% sell on fee as we think he's on Real Madrids radar. He's very good but he needs to work on a lot of things before he goes for a lot of money and we won't get much more than 500k as it stands. The likes of Peterborough and Derby at the top of L1 will be type of club interested in him and its a fact of life that long contract or not he would be gone. But I don't think he's too bothered about going right now but if we don't go up next season and he plays well then there's no complaints.

I voted ‘meh’ so it’s all been a bonus anyway.

You can tell this fanny learnt everything from Rhodes. Zero ambition and tighter than a ducks arse in a sandstorm. We need a proper football man at the helm, not some rugby gomper.

The reality is being League 2 we probably wouldn't get a huge amount in terms of cash but it would probably be tied into appearances, future sell on clauses and what not. If we can actually reach L1 it would give us a lot more sway in terms of cash up front. A savvy club as you say will know how to get the best deal for them in terms of pulling our pants down and in the future when they player comes to be sold on. It's also that because of the owner and the well-known ways he wants the club run means our hand is weakened further. Rupp is never going to come out and say 'not for sale and we don't need to sell'. That said, I'm all for the ideal model of developing young players into sellable assets but 1 player every five years (Wyke was the last one) is not a model, it's a shot in the dark every time we sign someone, and places further pressure on the sale - to get the most possible and to be able to fill the gap. Aside from that we have some proper salads on twitter sticking up for the way Sparks phrased his answer. They're probably the same ones who are happy we don't offer contracts early in case it upsets the shitter players in the squad.

Lewis is the best keeper we've had for ages. He seems a proper decent bloke too. But how much are we suckered into the nice guy and "up the fucking chickens" when thinking about how good he is?
I highly doubt he's way up on anyone else's radar in terms of how he's performed on the pitch.
Really hope we keep him and I think we will.

Half a million plus sell-ons, I’d sell no question.
But these twats would sell him for 50 grand. “If he doesn’t want to be here”.

Above average league two goalkeeper, great shot stopper but dubious decision making for me, plus not comfortable under the high ball (that'll be Doyle's coaching). Distribution deteriorated noticeably as the season progressed. If we can get decent money for him that might help lower Rupp's valuation of the club then I'd not be bothered if he left. Does seem like a nice lad though

He's shit at setting a wall and positioning himself for set pieces but he's still a massive hit for us

I doubt very much he's going there, they've already spent big on Armstrong they aren't going to be able to afford Lewis as well because of ffp. Plus why would Lewis leave us to be playing L2 again on 4 months?
It's agent talk to give a couple of clubs a kick up the arse

Reject a bid from Barnsley 6 months ago, who are the right end of L1, to supposedly selling to the club propping up the L1 table?
Has to be bollocks.
Oh wait, this is Bradford City. Perfectly logical situation.
We got fairly lucky in signing him when he'd played barely any games and considered quitting the sport altogether and he turned out the way he did, but it'll be a PR disaster if he goes and we replace with the usual type of player i.e PoInT tO pRoooVe
Good luck pushing them season tickets 😄

In reality, this is exactly why Lewis was signed.
And do you know what, whether it's the scouting system or Hughes that brought him here, we've signed a player on a freebie 18 months ago and going to sell him for I assume somewhere in the region of £200k. Not massive or game changing but fair dos.
What is annoying about this is it isn't to a club going anywhere. It's Carlisle. Carlisle. Who somehow are more attractive than us despite the likelihood we'll be in the same division next year. They get their Yanks, we get Rupp and Sparks.

Anyone shows a bit of quality and someone higher will have their way us. It's who we replace them with which is the problem. It's always a cheaper option we go for. If Doyle starts and we have the youth team keeper on the bench on Saturday and beyond that, then we're scraping around on the last day for a GK it wouldn't surprise anyone.

Paul Tomlinson was commenting in the T&A the other day.
He may be lined up for a move.

When we bring in two undisclosed fees for Lewis and Young this month and don't spend a penny for anyone we bring in, maybe the last few will see Rupp and Sparks for what they really are. Not Park though, he's too far gone that cunt.
