I've been a little critical of some of his early decisions and it's easy to be disappointed by his announcement due to his lack of experience but I do feel like he at least understands what a lot of the fans are asking for. I suppose that's where his communications background will probably help, he's had to put up with us all tweeting at him for the past couple of years asking why things are the way they are and why can't they be more like 'this'. He might get it right, he might get it massively wrong - but I feel like he at least knows where the end goal should be.

He’ll retract that once he sees the toxicity on the hashtag. Apparently.

Might not be terrible for the rest of the season.

Sparks Won’t Rush AppointmentThere’s a fair bit that just sounds hollow in this but one thing that really winds me up is shit like this: This part ought to pique a journalist’s interest and illicit a follow up question. Until we’re told what ‘deep due diligence’ involves its just wind and piss. It’s the sort of thing that salves the worries of the easily impressed and rubs the more cynical the wrong way. It really needed pinning down. One other thing that’s a bit of a red light is his take here: He must realise that these aren’t ‘snap decisions’ but the opposite. When a manager’s position starts to get a bit shaky, properly run clubs prepare for a change and start identifying targets while their current manager is still in a job. It’s not a snap decision at all. It’s ruthless and calculating but where did doing the ‘honourable’ thing ever get us? It’s the same way we seem to approach transfer windows. We wait for the starter’s gun while many other clubs seem to have players lined up and ready to sign as soon as the window opens.

I’m not dissecting this quote other than to just call bullshit. Our new manager will be currently unemployed. There’s nothing wrong with that, there’s plenty of good managers out of work, but don’t fanny us.

‘You can’t say Ryan doesn’t have a clear plan’:
That’s right and here it is:
There’s a ‘desire’ now to replace the ‘shared will’ to get us ‘back where we were a few years ago’ and after that ‘then so on’. Casper’s right, the man is a fanny merchant.
Compare and contrast this waffle with MacAnthony’s claims the other weak flat out stating that he’d have us in The Championship in a few years with his set up. Whether you like or hate MacAnthony, that kind of balls-out talk is exactly what the fans need to hear right now.
Sparks needs to start with the practical specifics soon and lay off the empty rhetoric because right now a slick but vacuous sales pitch is the last thing fans of a club teetering in the brink want to hear.

The less you say the less chance you have of being pulled up on something, it's what Parky was great on with post match interviews. He's got to rememwber he has no experience of CEO work, better to be chatting shit after a few years in the job.

This is exactly the sort of stories they shouldn't be going with in the local media. We're fighting for our very survival and he's banging on about years down the line. It's not the time for that, let's get this season out of the way and clear out the shitshow in the summer if we still have a club.

Whatever he does or doesn't say, is kind of moot. Its an impossible position in that sense because the only thing that matters is action. The next 6 weeks will be a massive indicator of his capability - the manager choice and our January transfer performance. We need to be making far more good decisions that bad ones. Get the right manager and minimum of 4 quality signings and we'll pull away. Fail on either score, and we're done.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve no problem with him wanting to be a more talkative CEO and it makes a refreshing change from Captain Admin’s continual radio silence. The problem I’ve got right now is that fluffy thinking, superficially rousing sound bites and bones with no meat aren’t what I want to be hearing given our position.
I want to hear that we’re doing due diligence but I want to know what that involves. I want reassurance and to me his interview feels like he’s trying to say what the fans want to hear but there’s just no substance. We need strategical specifics not woolly-minded marketing.

This side is sufficiently poor that it could swallow four decent signings and drag them down to its level. It could still be enough for us to survive but it’d be white knuckle stuff. The manager choice is absolutely crucial. Everything hangs on it. That’s why I’m so intent on wanting to know what we’re doing and how we’re going about it.

I have a desire to be balls-deep in Keira Knightley, and I hope there's a shared will that she'd let me and so on.
The guy's got all the PR bollocks he needs for the job he's qualified for, which is as a lettings manager at an estate agents in Silsden.

Buzzword bingo, although tbf we were complaining about him going silent a few days ago.
I wonder if it was sparks or Rhodes that extended McCall’s contract.

Parker is the easiest journo to work with. Doesn't dig any deeper. The polar opposite to Jamie Raynor.

I dont like all this 'we won't rush' shite talk. We have a couple of weeks until the transfer window opens. We need a manager in BEFORE that or we will have either bought players the new manager didn't want, or we will have bought no one. Either way the new man will be stuck with another man's squad (and not a great one) and we will suffer for the rest of the season.
If we sack McCall now we need a new man in soon. Doesnt even really matter who, just someone who is available now and know how to manage in L2.
There are shot teams in this league and we are fighting to stay up now. Genuinely think we only need about 3 or 4 wins this season to do that looking at the rest of the shite. So it isn't exactly the hardest job for now

Sparks reminds me of the recentish graduates we get. Know everything and love to spout bollocks they think makes them look good in meetings, can talk for five minutes without actually telling you anything and say shit like going forward instead of in the future. It’s all about them and building their bastard brand.
Yes he needs to communicate, anything is an improvement on Rhodes but I’ve seen far too much of him this week, actions not words. Hopefully he’s a place holder until a proper CEO comes in under billionaire new owners.
