Am I the only one who doesn’t want Hiwula back? His stats since leaving us read 12 in 53, 13 in 43 and 4 in 18. Guess it’s the still better than 1 in 5 Donaldson or 5 goals a season Guthrie but he’s hardly a must sign is he. Distinctly average forward. Got into good positions but wasted chance after chance, so effectively next to useless. It would be an improvement on Guthrie and Novak though.

I'd take Hiwula back. Was decent enough in his first spell and ended up our top scorer I think and we're desperate for some pace among the OAPs upfront. Out of interest, did he tell Bowyer or the club to fuck off? Not sure. I was just told that we were in for him on deadline day and he didn’t want to know. Watmough blaming the fans on Facebook- shock!

People talking about Vincelot. Guy is ancient and wasn';t that good at the tail end of his city career anyway. No chance.

People talking about Vincelot. Guy is ancient and wasn';t that good at the tail end of his city career anyway. No chance. Our fans have a really strange habit of wanting old players back. It’s strange because they’re not wanting them back because they were good, they want them back because they were here before.

We need four in centre midfield alone and we don’t have a right back on the books. Right winger? Do we have one? Add to this the fact we’re still carrying some real shite (especially up front) and I don’t see how anyone but the most doped up gomper can predict anything other than a season of struggle ahead. Fucking Geoffrey Richmond and his six weeks of madness echoing through the ages.

The notion that every club is in the same boat so it doesn’t matter is absolute bollocks.
The clubs that recruited properly last season still have their contracted players to fall back on. They’ll have a core group of players where if you were put them out on the pitch they’ll still resemble a half decent side. Kind of like how PP left McCall a strong group of about 10 players who then became the mainstay of our Wembley team. We don’t have that luxury, not in the slightest. Our recruitment was diabolical and the only half decent players we actually had have been sent back to their parent clubs. We’re now left with a squad that is barely conference standard and the fact that we are unlikely to improve it over the summer means that we’re serious candidates for relegation.
The Gompers as usual though will find out the hard way...

What's a 'gomper'? Sounds like you lot don't like them very much. Its a fan who refuses to see anything negative in the club whatsoever. We’re well run, all our players are great (until they leave) and our fans are the best in the land. They’ll argue that our January business was great, our recruitment is top notch and that cheap season tickets are the envy of every other football fan in the country. They’re the sort that refused to see Bowyer for what he was, the sort that will advocate keeping a glaringly shit player because he’s popular in the dressing room and will excuse dire player performances on the grounds they run around a lot. They, as much as our disinterested owner and our ambitionless CEO, are to blame for our inertia. They’ll argue hours on end that we’re just unlucky or that success will be ours if we only wait and, when all else is lost and our shitness dawns on even them, they’ll tell you to stop complaining and suck it up because ‘we’re at our traditional level’. They suck the life out of the club while thinking their a higher strata of fan. They stop anyone who dares to ask the club show some balls in their tracks with cries of ‘doing a Bury’ or tales of begging buckets as if it’s literally a shit or bust choice. These people are cunts.

We can’t be blaming Richmond for where we’re at now. In terms of finance, and I’m no expert, given the success under Parky, and to a lesser extent McCall’s first stint, we should be in a far healthier position than we are currently. Agreed he ruined us, and as part of the fall out we don’t own the stadium (and have no relationship with its owner so there’ll be no favours there, thanks Junior) but since 2013 sensible fiscal management- and that means recruitment of the right players at the right time and investment in the infrastructure, scouting etc. would have paid dividends. That’s not Captain Hindsight stuff, you only need to have trawled these pages over the last few years to see what was needed- and according to some we’re all fuckwits with no real knowledge of the machinations of the game. WOAP’s latest ‘where we’re at financially‘ has started with a 2 part dissection of a story that has been done to death; it’s the gompers’ get out jail free card. We need to move on from BFG, we’re talking 20 years.

What's a 'gomper'? Sounds like you lot don't like them very much. (Assuming fans can turn up) they're the sort who are looking forward to Barrow away as "it's a new ground to tick off", and "cracking ale pubs in the town". thecowsarse.boards.net/thread/835/post-best-gomper-opinionThe best of the worst.

There's no money cause there's no plan. All that money from the League Cup, the FA Cup, Wells, the sell-ons from youth players. All jizzed up the wall on, well, what? Aaron McLean and Josh fucking Wright.
You know the cheap season tickets aren't the problem. We'd just waste any extra money we got.
As for the ground, the best thing we could do is tell Gibb to go fuck himself. Odsal's going for a song since Northern moved out, the RFL would bite our hands off. Move there and stop paying into Gibb's pension fund. What's Gibb going to do with VP without us? Build a mosque?
