Which players do you think City should be looking for better than we currently have as a priority? It's no secret that I think we, as a group of fans, have a tendency to overrate our own players. Whether it's through years of watching shit players or just silly sentimentality I don't know, nor is this the place for the theory. This is just a thread to get ruthless. Mine are as follows: Law: Performed well (but not as well as many City fans would have you believe) in the early part of the season but has faded to almost nothing now. He seems to have almost no attacking instinct with the ball and plays safe almost all the time. We need better than him in our midfield if we want to go up and if we do he's toast anyway. Dieng: Just meh. A nothing player who's only real telling contribution this year is to stunt Devine's progress. We could ditch him tomorrow and only park would notice. McMahon: Another one who is hugely overrated and is starting to get Hanson-like clichés spouted for him - usually it's the old 'thirteen assists' routine. He's brainless, spineless and a little fucking cheat. He has almost no positional sense and I find myself all too often scanning the pitch to see where the little knobhead has wandered off to when the opposition are attacking down the left and he's not very good at going forward either. Infuriatingly limited player. Clarke: On form he's brilliant. Unfortunately he's on it about as often as Hale-Bopp calls round to visit. His good game isn't that good it's worth the nine shit games before it anyway. Go sell coffee, lad, football's not your game anymore. Doyle: Don't mind him that much as i think he's just average but since we're having a clearout... Hiwula: I've never been so conflicted or taken so long to make my mind up about a player but his game just has too many deficiencies. Don't sign him, send him back. Anybody I've missed or added that shouldn't have? ( Ricc )

Currently only mezza... Marshall... Wyke....Jones.... and Rory are the only ones guaranteed a starting spot in this division if all fit and healthy. The rest are easily replaced and need to improve. Cullen on his day is an exception but he won't be coming back if we stay in tis league. Should we go up the whole lot of need to improve dramatically

Wouldn't mind never seeing anyone but Meredith, Marshall, Jones and Wyke next season.

On reflection it's amazing we've made the play-offs at all .

We are actually fucking shite . If i am being realistic then the players who would definitely start are Marshall, Cullen, Meredith and Wyke. Others who i would be happy enough to see stay but have more faults than are Rory, Vincelot ( but not in midfield), NKP, Jones and possibly Doyle. Ones who after a season of watching and are not necessarily the worst players i've seen but are the reason we aren't second are Clarke, Law, Hiwula, MacMahon, Darby (great attitude though), Dieng. We could arguably accommodate one or two of the bottom group if we brought in a bit of class elsewhere. The midfield is pretty ordinary with Cullen, it needs an attacking threat that can shoot from distance to take the pressure off Marshall. Definitely another striker to complement Wyke and Jones. I love Jones but we need to use him properly. Obviously if we go up then most of those bottom two groups of players aren't good enough.

I'll give you Hiwula, he's terrible. and we could do better at right back than Tony 'Don't call me Vince' mcMahon too. Tim Dieng can piss off too. he's cack. worldies like the Guiseley performance are too few and far between. I still like Law though, he remains as part of my squad if I'm in charge. Doyle would remain, but I'd be on the look out for a new keeper too, but not as a priority.

If we assume that we’re in League One next season – because I tend to think we will be….. the main hope for me is that the owners put a little extra into the budget. I don’t think they’ll go silly, but I think they may become a little more ambitious than this year, given they’ve had 12 months to settle in.
Keeper – Not a huge Doyle fan. I’d be looking to move him on and bring in better. Someone like Connor Ripley.
Right Back – Let Darby go. Great servant etc, but we need to move on. I’d actually move McMahon on too – if we can find someone who gives us the better elements of his attacking game, but who’s better defensively.
Left Back – I’d keep Meredith, obviously. But I think he’ll be off. Shane Ferguson, out of contract at Millwall, only 25, can play left back and midfield. Quality at this level. Joe Martin is also at Millwall and takes a mean free kick, as we know. Wouldn’t mind Greg Leigh back either. Let NKP cover left back if needed, and maybe bring in a young loanee for cover. That young lad in the non-league we were linked with in Jan might be an option too.
Centre Back – Big improvement needed. NKP has done well in patches but he’s a soft touch. I’d keep Killgallon for the left sided centre back spot. I’d let McArdle go. David Wheater is out of contract – unlikely Bolton will let him go, but he’d be ideal. Hopefully we’ve been scouting for a quality young centre back because we need the best we can find. NKP, Killa, A new top centre back and Vincelot for cover.
Wings – Keep Gillead. Looks like Marshall is off so we need a couple more. Graham Carey for the left would be spot on. Maybe Ben Reeves, he can play centrally too. Possibly a loanee to cover both wings too.
Midfield – replacing Cullen will be a massive task. Need the best we can find and afford. Vincelot needs to drop back to defence. Law, I’d actually keep. He’s done ok, but he needs to be seen as cover for a central spot, not as first choice or for the wide spots. If McCall does leave, he’ll probably be off though. Dieng is under contract. I’d probably keep him for cover only, but having Law, Dieng and Devine for cover would mean having to get the bext 2 midfielders we can find on the market. John Lundstram is out of contract and only 23. Perfect for the holding midfield spot. Paul Coutts is another, if Sheff Utd let him go. Yaser Kasim at Swindon has always impressed me, only 25, out of contract, certain to leave Swindon. Need the scouts to do their job well and find a couple of quality additions here.
Up front – Wyke and Jones will be class. Billy Clarke is under contract but it could be time to move him on. I’d bring in 2 new forwards. Another number 9 and someone who can play a bit deeper. For the latter, I’d bring in someone like Chris Maguire or David Ball. Maybe Max Clayton. For the other striker, I’d still go back for Ched Evans. He won’t want to be in League 2 and they’re still skint. Other options might be Jonathan Obika – 25 and out of contract. Billy Sharp is out of contract but there’s no way he’ll leave the Blades. James Vaughan maybe.
We’ve got to be wary of changing too much in the squad, and we’ve not been too far off this year. If the budgets the same, I’d probably keep most of what we have, but if we top the budget up then we should be bold.
