A very interesting article written by WOAP this morning. This is probably the part that concerns us most: "Stefan Rupp was last week over in West Yorkshire to discuss next season’s plans, and has agreed a player budget of £2.6 million. However, as it stands the 16 in-contract players account for £1.6 million of that budget. We can expect more outgoings to ease this wage commitment, but patience is key. Players are away on holiday and not exactly in a hurry to sort out their futures (as is standard across the football industry). Clearly moving on players is vital, otherwise Bowyer effectively has only £1 million left of his budget to sign new players." widthofapost.com/2019/05/22/open-dialogue/?fbclid=IwAR0blOp8cePktGl52hDUKTTIg7iKJIOtkT4kfmj7nJlhVPG49P7ECD-IlRwSo basically, the difference between having a top 3 budget and effectively a bottom 3 budget if we only have £1M to spend is going to depend entirely on how many contracted players we can shift.

That’s funny because it was a top three budget with no conditions when we were selling season tickets.

I'm still assured it's nearer 3million

Why weren’t TCA on the invite list? If Big Rod gets to go, and the self important McKeown, it’s a kick in the balls for Hobhead

That £1M we have to play with. Does that account for the entire length of a players contract, or just this seasons wage? If it's the former then we're fucked. If it's he latter, then it may not be that bad.
As things stand we currently need at a minimum:
3 strikers 2 wingers 1 CM 1 RB 1 CB 1 LB 1 GK
If 3 of those are reserves and a couple of them are loans, then the average weekly wage we will have to spend on a player will be over 2k a week, which i presume is the going rate for a decent league 2 player. We desperately need to offload some of the contracted players though or we'll have far too much rubbish in the squad.
The only one's i can see there being any takers for are Doyle and Scannel.

Hobhead was invited but it clashed with Dancercise, so no go.

There's something not quite right with the comments made about next season's playing budget. Taking Ryan Spark's comments at face value and with the players we have today, the 16 currently under contract will cost £1.6mill next season. Or if you like, £100k per player on average. But this average includes Scannell, Wright, Doyle and Akpan who are on reputedly considerably more than £100k per season. Even if some of them have their wages reduced because we're now in the khazi league, it doesn't leave much for the other 12 contracted players. Being a simple accountant, that doesn't stack up for me. Secondly, if this is all correct and we don't manage to shift some of the 16 off the books, then according to the WOAP article, we have another £1mill to cover the wages for the remainder of next season's squad. Typical squad size in the khazi is 24-25 players but I'll use 26 to make the point better. This equates to an average of £100k per player for the additional 10 players which off course just happens the same average wage for the 16 with Scannell, Wright, Doyle and Akpan in the mix. This of course may all be coincidental and we will have capacity to bring in some much better paid players than the norm in the khazi. But having gone quickly from a Top 3 budget with no caveats to the latest position, I'm not convinced that we've heard the last of this.

I suppose once you account for the youth players/low earners the 2k/week average will rise to about 3k/week ,which sounds more realistic once you factor in the wage reductions that have occurred. Interesting that there were no release clauses in the contracts though. You'd think that in the event of relegation we'd have been desperate to get rid of the high earning, underperforming players. All it tells me is that Edin was convinced he had built a brilliant squad and would put any failure down to bad management rather than his own incompetency.

Numbers don’t add up. Nothing new on Reeves. Load of horse shit.
Prepare for a first team made up of what we can’t get rid of with the gaps filled with £1-1.5k pw players, a bench of awful loans and a paper thin squad.
