I'm glad I almost threw up at a wedding today im best man at. How lucky was I to have missed that shite.
Here we go, going to lose 6 in a row while the gompers defend it somehow.

How depressing was that? I'd say it was a huge anti climax but a) I wasn't that excited and b) it was all very familiar/predictable. Of course Barnsley have better players and have been playing at a higher level very recently but we looked like we could have played till midnight without creating any notable chances. Riley was utterly anonymous in the first half and was understandably replaced. Seedorf didn't look any kind of upgrade on Gilliead, Wright is hardly better than Vincelot (FFS), Chicksen (FFS, well FFS, FFS), Payne looks like he might be decent against lesser opponents but his size and the way that he was immediately closed down rendered him pretty much useless today, Scannel had about 2 good runs but not much else, Doyle was as isolated as Wyke looked for the latter part of last season. It was just wank. As someone already said, Barnsley barely broke a sweat and never once looked troubled by our "attacking". When the confidence drains fully out of these players after the poor start I am now/again predicting - we are going to be fucked.
I thought Mellor did ok and Akan is an upgrade on Dieng, but that's about all I've got.

Barnsley were very good. Looked in control for 99% if the game. At about 60 minutes they had the likes of Moncur to bring on, who then proceeded to run us ragged.
We were poor. The defending for thier first was comical. So many chances to clear. Free header at the near post. The closest player we had to him, who still wasn’t close enough to challenge was Riley.
I don’t really understand our system.
Basically everything is the same as it was last season.

We're playing in a system which is too complicated at this level, we've got players playing out position and we didn't even play our best players. Collins is clueless. I’m tired of cunts over complicating the game at League One level. You don’t need to demonstrate that you’re a tactical mastermind at every opportunity; just keep it simple and effective. That starting formation today was a mess and the players looked as confused as everybody else. Why did we collect wingers in the off season to play wing backs at home? Why is Chiksen playing pro football? Why did Wright get made captain when he’s not fit to start? Why is NKP still starting games? Why are we paying Scannell so well only to misuse him? What a fucking mess. Why was Riley playing out wide, why was Chicksen playing at Centre Back, why was Doyle playing up front by himself. The list goes on and on. Some of the decisions he's made so far have been mind boggling and it's not a hindsight thing either. We've played 2 games this season and twice I've looked at the team/setup and thought "wtf is he doing?"

Which would explain it.

They know football n'all apparently....
I sensed a lot of optimism going into today in bantamstalk. And there it went, just like that. Really need to nip this in the bud, as i said, you hope it is largely because they are superior to us, when the likes of gillingham rock up at VP, lose those and we really are in trouble. I think it is the manner of the loss today though which is difficult to take, it's not surprising, but to not even really test them at all is concerning.

Kiefer Moore showed what a ‘big fella up front’ is supposed to look like today. He’s not just big but he’s got real quality too. Our cunts would stick Peter fucking Mayhew up front and marvel at his presence.
Everything Moore did stuck. He has this languid style that looks completely at ease and seems to have all the time in the world. Contrast that with our busy shithouses treating the ball like it’s got leprosy and the difference is stark.
He’s a quality footballer who happens to be tall. I bet nobody needs to bang on about his ‘presence’ to justify his inclusion.

If I'd have heard another, "Well, we won't play teams as good as that very week" somebody may have been killed.
The fact that some are considering promotion this year is terrifying- particularly considering we couldn't match up in any position, except goalie, against a relegated team. Very few positives to take from today, apart from the tag team routine of the PE teachers on the bench who took turns to stand in the technical area and fold their arms in an impressive manner.

“It’s not shown me anything to leave me thinking ‘wow, we’re miles away from Barnsley’. I don’t think we are.“
Fuck off.
He’s in danger of being relegated from PE teacher to Supply PE Teacher.

Which begs the question..... why isn’t Panzer Brunker getting a game...?

Riley & Chicksen were shit. I wasn't at all surprised to see Riley hooked and Seedorf come on. Chicksen going to centre half was a wtf moment.
Going forward our passing wasn't good enough, decision-making wasn't good enough. Defensively we looked all over the place at times - not just the wing backs, I thought Mellor had a dodgy moment or two and I can never relax when KP plays - he always has a mistake in him.
On the bright side, er... our keeper and O'Connor look half decent. And it was nice to be out of the house.

But with such a novice coaching set up and revamped squad, it always was going to be, as no one really can predict exactly how we will fair. We really can't afford a bad start, as i could see it going massively tits up especially if the crowd turns.

We've played 2 games this season and twice I've looked at the team/setup and thought "wtf is he doing?" He's now tried the 3 at the back and wingbacks in both games and its failed miserably. Riley in particular looks completely at sea and has needed pulling early in both games so far. Today for the best part was just fucking clueless and could have been easily 5 or 6 nil save for Barnsley taking it easy on us. Both Wright and Akpan look worryingly slow, at least Akpan looks to get forward albeit with the finesse of a hippo. Wright just drifts around the pitch aimlessly. Doyle will definitely get you goals at this level unless you pump aimless long balls downfield, so lets use that as a tactic. FFS. Barnsley exposed weaknesses that an average team like Shrewsbury had numerous chances to but didn't. Performance wise today wasn't really much better than any of the shite in the second half of last season.

Fuck me, that's piss poor.
Total pissy tippy tappy football against a side that broke on numbers and looked like scoring at every opportunity.
Why the fuck have a midget on the line defending corners as well?
