Decent ones we've had the last 10 years or so have been loans from premiership clubs or the championship. Need that youthful energy Saw someone on twitter earlier suggesting Evans, surely you would be up for that I’d be up for that but there’s no way we can afford his wages. He looked a class above for us I thought.

Isn't he a bit injury prone these days? I'd certainly have him back.

Hasn't Evans been out injured for ages?

He was injured. Came back midway through this season and went to Pompey. No idea how he's done there.
Evans when we had him was precisely the type of player to invest in. Cullen was obviously more talented and easier on the eye in terms of his play, but Evans had that bite and nastiness about him. I really rated Evans when he was here.

He signed for pompey carrying an injury but I'm sure he's played 4 or 5 games for them but he's been kept out for safety since they won promotion. Rest him get him back in pre season get him fit and he's a massive player at this level. With McDonald Platt Ridehalgh going I'd throw their wages on top of the 4k we'd try and pay him

Fuck signing more injury prone players.
Also think that we’ll try to keep Platt.

Lee Evans would piss this league People said that about Smallwood and many more before him. The problem is, when they're not past it, better players come here and have little quality / the wrong players around them, and they get dragged down to standard L2 level. The right players around Smallwood and I'm sure he would flourish. If we could find a partnership that worked, with everything else we have it makes the difference between the POs and the autos.

I'm just not buying that Smallwood is any good, or gives enough of a shit to be at his best if he is. He can pick a pass but generally his success rate is incredibly poor (51st percentile) and half the time he passes like he's wearing rigger boots. I don't even need to discuss his set pieces, but what I will say is he must have a massive fucking ego on him to carry on taking them.
He was the one always trying to slow the play down under Hughes, and now under GA he makes this big show of trying to take free kicks quickly but then actually doesn't. He has zero connection with the fans which is a total no no for a captain. Remember when he used to just fuck off to the changing rooms after games?
Folk always say "ah but its the midfield partners he's had that are the problem". Balls. He's the only constant in two seasons of a poor central midfield.
Added to all that, its clear the back end of this season his legs have gone, he's got that awkward running gait that Gary Jones had in his last few months with us, but none of Jones' qualities.
I genuinely can't wait to see the back of him.

It takes a special kind of Gomper to start hitting out at fans who suggest wanting 3 staff to work 40 hours a week for free is "tinpot".
I mean unpaid work is actually handed out by courts in the UK as a punishment for criminal offences.
