Bowyer said he’d be playing close to his first choice eleven here so it’s nice to see Akpan dropped. I can’t help feeing that Gibson and Anderson will let him down though if he plans on using them for the bulk of the season.
Interesting to see what look to be a 4-3-3 though. No place for Scannell unless we get a proper left winger in?

Still no Paudie or Mccartan and Ismail appears for 45 mins in midweek then disappears again. Colville situation still bizarrely dragging on. Reeves and Robinson situations no closer to a conclusion either. Akpan, Riley and Ocunter still taking up a disproportionate chunk of the wage budget and preventing us from signing any players to sort our midfield out.
Forgive me if I don’t share the Gompers enthusiasm.

I don’t think we’ll see either of Reeves or Robinson in a City shirt again but without shifting the three cunts, or Rupp digging deep, it’s a badly balanced squad. Again.

I agree. A week away from the start of the season and just under two weeks away from the window shutting too.
For me we are short in midfield, on the wing and you could argue at the back if we lose another defender. I'd hate for the window to shut and we are relying on the likes of Devine and Patrick to come off the bench to dig us out of a hole.
If we can't shift the deadwood then Augustus Gloop is going to have to dig deep and get us what we need.

I still say we can squeak the play offs with what we’ve got but a couple of signings can make a massive difference.

There are a handful of players in this squad that top end league 1 club would happily take. It's now just a matter of where the shit in our squad ranks amongst the other shit in the league. There's no disputing that the likes of Akpan/O'Connor/Anderson are garbage, but do teams such as Cambridge, Stevenage, Port Vale etc have enough quality to make them look like the pub footballers they are? Well the last time we were in league 2 there were 6 teams worse than the dross Peter Taylor put together so on that basis I'm saying no, although it's difficult to gauge just how much the landscape has changed since then.

I think some of you lot have forgotten how shite this league actually is. As it stands we will get playoffs easy, but a quality CM and winger will pretty much guarantee autos.
We've got shit in our squad sure but is it worse than the shite that the other 23 teams have? Probably not, therefore the likes of Anderson, Riley, akpan and O'Cunt will be able to muster half decent performances when called upon which hopefully is very fucking rarely.

Our shit will be as good as other teams shit but no other team has a Vaughan or a Scannell. Even the likes of Mellor and Donaldson should be much better than what we'll come up against. Top 3 should be a given.

We always, always make hard work of it. Is this squad really any better than the 2013 squad? And that one only just squeaked into the playoffs. A couple of quality additions and decent luck with injuries and we'll be top7. If this is it, and we lose 2-3 important players for any real length of time and we could be mid table. There are some bang average, shit house sides who'll just grind results out. My abiding memory of being here last time was shit sides playing 4141, with a big shit house in front of the back 4, nabbing a soft goal or a goal via a set piece and then time wasting for 80 mins while shit refs piss about and lose control of games. On the joy.

But I still cant fathom the thinking around signing a couple of quality strikers, then relying on Jordan Gibson and Jermaine Anderson to provide the supply line. I get that we have to cut our cloth. But for what it costs to get 2 more of quality, we should be finishing the building job.
