Get a fucking grip you spacktards. Doyle should be dropped and next game I want to see two wingers and Donaldson and Vaughan up top. Palmer and whoever else is the least shit midfielder we have on the day in midfield. HuRr DoYlE iSNT a TaRgEt MaN. Funny how Vaughan, a good few inches shorter than Doyle, and by no means a target man himself manages win plenty of aerial balls. And then brings it down and controls it. Even when Doyle gets into feet he manages to fuck it up. He’s a footballing leper. Sack him off ASAP. Stop making excuses for him, he’s utter trash. Do you need a little drink of water, m8? Thought I’d have calmed down by today. I haven’t.

Didnt some people get gomped down for suggesting the lack of open play goals in pre season was a but of an issue?
It's been part of the rot for about 5 years, a lack of goals in open play. Even when we got to the play offs twice it wasn't because we had goals in us - we just can't find players who can shoot well, the last one who could was Paul Taylor.
Even on the basis of one league game the lack composure and wrong decision making was obvious again.

I’m gonna just say that when we played long balls to Donaldson it was actually great to watch him look where his strike partner was and then attempt to head it in that direction. Groundbreaking stuff I know.

Groundbreaking stuff I know. Having two strikers with a basic idea on how to play the forward role was the highlight of Saturdays game. A striker with the ability to jump and time a header is like Valley Parades equivalent of neanderthal man being shown how to make fire.

I watched the first half of this game back and it wasn't that bad. Solid at the back, kept the ball well but zero creativity.

We looked solid if unspectacular at the back, potentially dangerous up front and non existent in midfield. Every manager seems to have a blind spot when it comes to a player and for Bowyer it’s looking like Anderson. He’s a good slice of why we look so shit in the middle for me. I’d even select the tidy but utterly risk averse Devine before Anderson but Bowyer seems to be hanging his hat on him. It’s a mistake.

It’s like we’ve been saying for ages, the midfield is a major problem. The defence will be solid enough and the attack would be potent but it won’t get supplied by that midfield - they fed off scraps all afternoon last Saturday. There were no decent chances because the supply line was non existent. Doyle and Anderson were complete passengers. Gibson did ok but we really need to go 4-4-2 and sign a left winger and an experienced CM partner for Palmer. It could be the difference between a season of struggle and success.

Last time in L2 we had Thompson, Reid, Doyle and Jones in midfield. Just take Thompson Reid and Jones and compare to the 3 that started last week. Did they look anything like them?

The only thing that stopped that squad from finishing midtable was Nahki Wells.

The only thing that stopped that squad from finishing midtable was Nahki Wells. They weren't title winners, but that midfield was better than what we're starting with now. Agree to some extent - half the goals we scored of made came out of nothing, usually Wells forcing a mistake or something. The defence was pretty solid though from after the Burton game onwards... held it's own in League 1 for a while.
