if you think we'll get butterfield in L2 youve been buying drugs off that guy that posts on here trying to sell them. butterfields on 30k a week and we've been paying 10% of that, side hustle or not he's not gonna take a cut like that any time soon you say that but who's going to pay him anywhere near 30k a week? The only clubs who would do that are top end championship clubs and he isn't signing for one of those. In fact I'd be amazed if he got a championship club at all next season given how he failed at Wednesday last season. The best he can hope for is 5-8k a week from someone like Ipswich in league 1.

At an absolute push:
--------------------Keeper---------------
C Woods-----POC----CB-------Mellor
Winger--------Reeves----CM-----Scannell
-----------------Ball---Striker---------------
That's the maximum my inner Park Bantam will allow.
I'd only Keep Woods if atleast half his wage is appearance based.
Did Mellor get into league 2 team of the year playing under Bowyer? He might be able to get the best out of him but i wouldn't be disappointed if he left.
Scannell- No end product but gets the ball moving forward and can put teams on the back foot. You could probably get about 3 or 4 quality players with his wage though and probably ones who can cross a football.
It's pointless discussing Reeves at this stage but i wouldn't be against playing him if he overcame his issues.
Ball is a decent player but no more.
In truth though, none of them are absolute must keeps. I'm not even sure how Rahic has managed that on a £4M wage budget.

Another preseason of recruitment with Rhodes in charge. It will be weeks of being told we can't compete with Salford, scunthorpe and Plymouth and we will end up signing players from the shitpool of trialists we have in the last week before the first game.
Plus we won't be able to afford a goalscorer and will end up with Billy Fucking Clarke.
Glad I didn't buy a season ticket again.

I work with a lad who couldn't get in the Harrogate Railway team that was relegated to the unibond North East counties third division or whatever, and he's using the off season to get a sleeve done. Like a proper footballer. He's an ex city junior.

Don’t worry, haven’t you heard McBurnie is going to Man City for 200 million, with our sell on we’ll basically be the PSG of L2.

Realistic price for Oli McB? It's going to be a club like Burnley, Bournemouth or Brighton buying. £10-15M?

And I bet it goes straight in to Stefans bank Tbf, we made a 2mil loss this year didn't we. So if McBurnie does go for 15mil and we get a 15% cut that will only cover the loss, not provide any transfer funds. Stefan would be a mug to put that back on transfers when we're operating at a deficit. At best any bonus transfer money will be used to pay out the shower we have now

I was watching the Mansfield vs Newport game yesterday and the standard was very poor-especially when you consider that they were two of the better teams in the division. In fact, it was so dreary that you could probably get away with a squad full of Akpan's,Anderson's etc and still compete if you can recruit a few quality players in the right areas.
Truth is, we're not even going to manage that. We'll be signing rejects from average league 2 teams and anyone who comes with an acceptable reputation will either be injury prone or plucked from non league obscurity.

I dread to think what we're going to be lining up with in August. A mix of the current crocks and complimented with super cheap / injury prone / on the downward slide signings.
I bet we'll follow the path of the last 5 years where we haven't been able to even fill a bench for the first month of the season.
The reason we got out of legaue 2 before was we had quality in the right areas that worked together. The biggest factor was probably finding a 25 goal a season man almost by pure luck who formed a decent partnership with the man next to him.
Anyone think a 20-25 goal man will fall our way? Buying one is out of the question, so we'll have to just hope we stumble across them.
The thing is, I wouldn't be adverse to going down the non league route - if for example we went after quality youngish players with experience and obviously on the way up. As opposed to Akpan, O'Donnell and the others who now have 2-3 consecutive relegations on their football CV.
I put a big chunk of our relegation down to that on the pitch - why sign so many players who have been surrounded by failure the last few years?
What also scares me is some of the names I've seen - Matt Dolan, Kevin Ellison and others... exes of ours you'd long forgotten about - they're still active down there. Imagine Ellison scoring against us. Jesus.
