Bradford City sign Harvey Price. Head of Recruitment Greg Abbott had this to say: "He certainly brings something different to the group." View Attachment oh no he didn't 🤣🤣

We won't sign any of these but you can build a good side at this level just from the out of contract players in League One
Alex Cairns Kelvin Mellor Brendan Moloney Elliot Ward Greg Leigh Craig Conway Joe Rothwell Erhun Ozthumer Rob Hall Simon Cox Kyle Vassell
Not a top 2 side. But a top 6 one probably. And a shite site better than what we have.

Yeah. 'The model' that Rahic favours is actually sound in its principals. Where it falls on it's arse is
1) it needs money putting in to attract players of the right quality and potential to begin with 2) scouting. You need to know who the best young players in league's one, two and the conference are rather than aiming for cast offs from lower end championship clubs 3) you have to pay competitive salaries
We fail on all 3.

I'm actually behind the model ffs. I just don't think rahic can deliver it.

Where it works best:
Bring in your Josh Cullen's for 500K, for example. Yes, expensive, but the upside is much higher.
Or more of your Charlie Wyke type signings. But.... we only signed him because we got a fee for Hanson. If he hadn't gone, we wouldn't have bothered.
So in short Edin, put your money where your mouth is and lets launch this model with quality instead of random punts.

I'm not entirely convinced that even Cullen would get sold for big bucks if he was our player and he's one of the brightest young talents we've seen in recent years. It just shows you how tough it is to implement this strategy successfully, especially for a mid table league 1 club who are reliant on picking up scraps.

Yeah, and, the truly big clubs have enough money to hoover up all the genuinely promising players as well as take a chance on the fairly promising ones. The truth is, the ones who are left are left for a reason. The worrying thing from our perspective is how quickly the likes of Patrick have been awarded long deals. Swings his leg at a couple that go in and BOOM, 3 year deal. Crumbs.

The worst thing that could happen right now is that we unearth a single gem. Edin would be vindicated at once and for all time and the gompers would be pointing to that player as an example of the model working until the fucking stars burn out.

Exactly. 750k on the likes of Bradley Dack is what we should be spending for this plan to work. 200k on shay bastard McCartan won't cut it. Spend big to earn big.
