Without being a Gomper I'm just disappointed it's Leeds fucking United. They're everything we ought to strive to be.

Not unhappy with that. He’s got nothing much else to his game other than his finishing but we’re going to need high percentage finishers to suit Adams’ style.

Will frustrate the hell out of you but when all was said and done he scored 5 goals in a relatively short space of time which was quite impressive given that his stint here consisted of him warming the bench or playing out of position as an AM/lone striker. These type of players win you more points over the course of a season that your archetypal target men who win a few headers and apparently scare the life out of defenders with their presence. A fit Cook could easily get you 15-20 goals with the right service.

If you’re seriously suggesting that goals are worth more than tallness then I’m afraid you’ve just outed yourself as someone who doesn’t understand the game. Fuck me, do you remember those arguments? The utterly bizarre ways his nuthuggers would try and tell you that Hanson was a great player actually and it was just that you weren’t sophisticated enough to see it. As if there was anything at all even remotely sophisticated about Hanson’s game. It was like a cult that worshipped a half man, half donkey god.

Composed, clinical and lethal finishers are something we've either very rarely had or when we do have one their legs go the day we sign them or we manage to fuck them up. We know we're never going to batter teams with overwhelming attacking football and heaps of goals so a predator striker like that is exactly what we need. Not prioritising big lumps or 'holds the ball up well and does fuck all else' types.

I wonder if Cook was an Adams suggestion when we interviewed him in Jan. Would make sense.

Equally, there were people who would argue that he was completely chocolate teapot which was also unfair. Limited L2 striker that fit the criteria for Parky at that time.

Any idea when it’s set to be announced? Nope just the lad I know who knows said as far as he's aware its done They’re going to wait for the excitement of the Carling deal to die down a bit I’d imagine before announcing Scales has signed a new contract and Cook has joined. Songo’o has left Morecambe too so he will be announced soon.

At least that's one of Adams' players who won't be returning Cracking player at the start, then slipped before becoming an absolute liability by the end. He makes me think all wasn’t well behind the scenes since he went on to do well for Morecambe. While Adams might have brought out the best in him again it’s a relief we’ve let that one slide.

Agree that when he first joined he was superb, assured and with pace to get himself out of trouble. Remember watching him at VP when his confidence had gone and I'm guessing he was playing because nobody else was available and it was obvious that he'd been told that if it came near him to just smack it in to touch. He did it for the full match and it's something I'd never seen before or since. Genuinely happy that he's got his career back on track.

Yea I agree on NKP. First season great but then went downhill. He wasn’t alone in that though, same could be said for almost that entire team. Just saw Patterz signed for L1 Burton too.
Makes you wonder what could have been with that squad if it wasn’t for whatever the fuck it was that derailed the entire club. People blame Rahic, fair enough, but we saw a very similar all be it condensed boom bust cycle with Rowe… and to some extent Vaughan.
I just hope we don’t do the same to the likes of Watt and Staunton.

Not that arsed tbh. Would rather we sign Cook if we're going with a 'lone striker' formation. And one or two decent back up strikers to give us some flexibilty. Main priority has to be a shithouse midfielder.

Main priority has to be a shithouse midfielder. Agreed. His record is poor and it was only the factor that Adams wanted him going in his favour. I’d like a nippy striker making runs in behind and off the shoulder to see what Cooke can do as far as feeding him goes. I think that would be a good combination.

Without wanting to look like I'm pushing a one trick pony excess pace at this level can go a long way. Footballing aside, look at Wells when he was here. Half the goals he scored when we went up were down to him being faster than anyone else. I don't think we've had what you would call 'a fast' player for about 4 years now. We have to move away from the idea of a 'presence' player being the foundation to build an attack around.

13 goals in 41. With that record we may as well have kept Donaldo.
