No doubt we’d be in a better position if we’d gone down. Circumstances conspired to fuck us. And for a period, there was justification for blaming those circumstances for our ‘demise’. But to still be blaming Richmond now is just an abdication of responsibility. We’ve had 20 years to get our shit back together. exactly, in another 20 years we’ll still be blaming Rahic. In 20 years, we won't exist.

Rahic set off the decline, and while Rhodes might have done a good job in steadying the ship off the field, you have to say it seems to be have been to the detriment of the football side and Rupp has to take some of the blame for that as well. Relegation is ok as long as we’re not making a loss.

The problem with this club is when we have had periods of relative success (late 80s, late 90s, mid teens), we just haven't built on it or put decent foundations in place. The PL years was the time to invest in training facilities, scouting networks etc. But we pissed it away on big signings, unnecessary ground expansion and dividends. I often think we'd be in a better position now if we'd gone down (from the PL) in the first season and regrouped rather than stay up and gamble it all away. Its like the last 20 years has just been one long hangover with no real plan or direction. The monotony only broken by a few years of steady progress and hope under Parky. Right now just taking tactical relegation and regrouping with a long term strategy isn't an option, because we're staring into the abyss of non league. All Rupp can do now is open his checkbook and throw money at enough experienced pros to hopefully drag us out of this mess. Or kiss goodbye to his investment. The question is, does SMc have the noose and judgement to get the right players in? But Sparks needs to make the decision NOW. Give an new manager the Jan window and time to assess the squad. Or stick with Stuart and pray. Does McCall have the noose? I know we want rid, but not the Bobby Campbell way. You obviously mean nonce.

Relegation is ok as long as we’re not making a loss. Tbh i think the problems were already embedded into the culture of the club. The lack of investment in the club's infrastructure and the policy of 'managed deficits' which was propped up by sell ons and improbable cup runs. In a sense we were over achieving under Parky. We were competing with teams with £10m wage budgets. Even during the Parky years you always kind of felt like we were one bad season away from everything unravelling and going to shit. We never really had a long term strategy or a back up plan if things went pear shaped. Edin's idiocy accelerated the decline and the house of cards collapsed. But like i said before, 'sustainability' is a pointless strategy when the penalty for admin is so lenient. It's why the likes of Bolton and Wigan take the piss. Borrow millions to hoover up the best players > go up > go bust > admin > go down > start afresh under 'new' ownership > rinse and repeat We 'play fair' and have fuck all to show for it.

Just seen Diego Costa on North Parade. If he had a chorizo and a Fall LP under his arm it was Keith Wildman. Close though.

our alleged first two signings are a player banned for gambling and a registered sex offender. Good to see Sparks sticking to his word.
