Agreed with Killgallon the better of the two. I thought Vincelot was immense, particularly first half. Gillead looks to be growing into the side and getting better each game. Only slight negative points were Poleon having a poor game and our fullbacks positional sense is all over the place at times. Good win. I thought the full backs started well and the crosses were excellent, but once Rovrum bypassed the midfield our shape was all over the place. The midfield three struggled today, Gilliead better in patches. Referee liked to be different. The ref oddly got so much of the little stuff wrong but, in his defence, he got the big calls right. All his bookings were correct and he rightly waved away their penalty shout. As far as the niggly stuff though, he was a mess.

It wasn't working up front for me. Not holding the ball up well enough and not causing too much trouble. Patrick was very poor when he came on - some silly, stupid mistakes to lose possession; also didn't help that we tried to sit on it from there.
I do think we were lucky at times today - the last ditch goal line clearance which is the 3rd one at home - but don't think we were particularly poor. We did the ref a lot of reasons to blow for fouls though, which saw very little football played at times in the second half.
Doyle had a good game for me under immense pressure at times, the defence certainly won us that today.

It looked like Patrick went left wing and Reeves was told to push on but that would have left Vincelot as the lone centre mid. I hate watching us try to shut up shop.

Lucky 3 points for me, played well 1st half in every department apart from front 2 and Doyle being Doyle. 2nd half after first 10 mins we just decided to let them walk through us until they hit nkp and Killa. Again it seemed like poor game management and we looked ridiculously unfit/heavy legged. But how different do we look when Law actually goes forward and through the middle. Just proves he was mismanaged last season. And fair play to Doyle in the 2nd half, looked like he'd been given some sort of talking to at half time and gave the best performance he's had in a city shirt.
Nkp man of the match just from Killa and Gilliead

Best I could make out it was a back 5 and midfield diamond with Vincelot at the base, Reeves at the top and Patrick Gillead either side. Stupid, but we saw it out. Not much to moan about today, though Patrick was shit when he came on.

Or, second preference, Wyke since he was blowing out of his arse and gone 5-4-1. I really don't enjoy it when we try and get too clever in hanging on to a slender lead.

Nkp man of the match just from Killa and Gilliead I thought NKP was immense today closely followed by Kilgallon. Gilliead the pick of the midfield, still not as good as Marshall though. Doyle played well although his distribution at times was wank. Not much shape to the team in the second half which lead to us putting pressure on ourselves. A draw would probably have been a fair result but i'll gladly take all three.

A claim on the Rotherham forum that Jonson Clarke-Harris had monkey chants aimed at him. He doesn't say whether it was their fans or ours though.

1 year ago we were good at containing teams, sitting on leads and having huge amounts of possession - opponents were barely having more than a shot or two. This year not so much - we are so, so much better when we try to have a go. At the same time we do invite openings at the other end but once we start to stop taking the game to the opponents or give the ball away cheaply that's when we invite pressure on ourselves. As for the monkey chants, abhorrent, but so were their fans in a minibus with the windows down trying to be half racist by singing England songs. And this was probably one of the best non goal moments I've ever seen at VP -

I wasn't sure at the time whether Killgallon or the Rotherham lad had got the touch but judging by that shot it's a definite toe-ender from Killgallon. Some saving tackle that.

Where did the monkey chants come from, i thought we were better than that? There more than likely weren't any. It's only an unsubstantiated rumour at the minute. But anyone doing it can't really expect to get away with it surely?

Monkey chants? Bollocks.
We dug it out today. Some great individual moments of stout defending, some good moments in an attacking sense but all in all we were a bit fortunate to win. Thought Rotherham were decent. I can see them being top 6.
Killa's clearance was outstanding. Chicksen has a great delivery but is weak defensively. NKP was quality, as was Vince. Reeves is decent but no better than that.
Poleon was poor today.
Good win though. And a very good week. Fair johns, we're doing better than I thought.

Everyone involved was white though so monkey noises are debatable.

Two very winnable games coming up against Northampton and Fleetwood and if we can take 6 from them I'll dispell all doubts.
We're looking the business.

Some genuine oddballs follow football but I reckon that's half the fun.
