One thing that gives me immense (like, really immense) satisfaction is knowing that Sparks will have sat there tonight knowing how fucked he is. How once this shitshow is over he’ll never get another job at the same level. He’s fucked this up big style and it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving cunt. I honestly don't think he sees it. It's hubris. He'll genuinely believe its not his fault. I'm convinced.

So our 16,000 cheapo season ticket holders didn't bring us success. Who'd have thought it eh? So from Rhodes last throw of the dice of cheap tickets (that didn't work, it was Parky working a miracle that actually worked) to now making the dumb fucks who would turn up even if we dropped to national League north pay for it. To think, since we dropped out of the championship some 20 years ago, the highest position we've finished in either league 1 or 2 is fifth. I think the amount of times in our history we've been automatically promoted is about half a dozen, might be slightly less. The take up of Rhodes cheap ticket deal papered over the fact we are nothing more than perennial shit kickers bar BFGs mad five years. People bang on about the greatness of the football league pyramid when the reality is lower league football is fucking shite.

I was on my way to Manchester last night from the Interchange. The fans who had been to Harrogate were getting off a train pulling in and waiting for a connection to somewhere else.
I was listening to a bit of one conversation.
A few blokes talking about renewals and non-renewals. Said everyone they know was renewing, everyone on their row has renewing, all the 'loyal'(emphasis on that) fans were sticking with the club. They didnt know any non-renewers.
I laughed to myself and butted in. I said the only reward you're getting for being loyal is priority tickets for games like today where you're coming back from, all fucking miserable. Told them covid and dodgy online streams made a lot of people realise they can live without live football - live, shit, league 2 football, nevermind how hopeless our club us.
Then said what do you get for being loyal? If the football is shit for years, people are going to enjoy something else.
They did not like that. I went off and enjoyed my night while they'd wasted a load of money on their Saturday and grumbled all the way home.

Because they've done nothing to quell the dissenting voices, instead choosing to stay silent, the season ticket uptake could well be a complete disaster. Add this to the new ticket system fiasco and we could be looking at 35 to 40% drop off worst case scenario. Its like that feeling you get when you walk into a department store firesale where non of the staff really give a shit cos they know the place is going down the pan.

I'm not really sure what I want on Friday. Vast empty stands like against Notts County or a good turnout and it being utterly toxic towards Sparks like the Mansfield game. I think empty stands will give him an easier ride and he will play it off as a season over and the expected drop off in fans, where as it being extremely toxic for him (if he turns up himself) will leave him in absolutely no illusion that his position is untenable.
I've written off the game myself and I'm struggling in seeing a scenario where I turn up. The rumours of some kind of protest might tip me towards turning up to add my voice to those speaking out at this shitshow.
