Apparently a top defender but rarely fit.
Not convinced we really needed another defender but here we are.

I mean he sounds... fine?
Doesn't sort the issue of the lack of goals tho...

Has good pedigree but we didn't need a centre half.
It only makes sense if he's going 3-5-2.
Still "meh" from me as there are more important positions that need filling, ones that don't involve us having to play Alex fucking Gilliead.

Is this accurate?:
What a waste of resources if so.

Even if he keeps himself fully fit and turns out to be decent I’m not really sure what we’re trying to achieve here. As with our previous recruits, it’s a pointless signing that solves none of the issues we had pre January.

Our recruitment strategy under Hughes does seem a little odd. He seems to enjoy having a large squad at his disposal but then discards the fringe players (most of who are his own signings) at his earliest convenience.
The squad is clearly lacking in quality, particularly in attack. Rather than signing a couple of high quality players to propel us forward he’s decided that a mid-season upheaval consisting of journeymen, unknowns and injury-prone players is the way forward. If this doesn’t work out, Hughes’ position is rightly going to come under further scrutiny. A bizarre transfer window to say the least

A bizarre transfer window to say the least For the life of me I can’t see how anyone could look at this window and think we’ve done the right business to get us up. We’re short of both goals and creativity and not one of our signings seems to address either problem. It looks to me like we’ve done business for the sake of it.

I agree with a point on the other board - Odusina and Young are on 3 year deals, East on 2; these are the players you kind of hoped where at least one would be involved more in the first team considering their age, experience, Hughes' signing but all 3 seem to have been frozen out altogether. They're young, played games and have potential to develop with resale value. So why hasn't it worked for them? Then we give a 3 year deal to a 30 year old striker and don't play in any kind of way that benefits him. That's what I don't get, before even thinking about this window's signings. A 36 year old on probably his last contract, a LB who replaced a LB who's done nothing really wrong, a couple of very inexperienced loanees and a defender with injury problems. Oh and an Irish guy who's KelleherV2.

This signing only makes sense if there’s a defender going out. Did someone say that Odusina is off out on loan?
Bizarre how we’ve not rectified our lack of creativity and goals though and it will cost us a PO spot imo.

I can't be arsed with the Guthrie graphic at this point. Not unless we do something retarded in the next 2 hours.

This has the hallmarks of a top signing if he wound up at a club with a decent fitness record. We're not that IMO. Also we don't need defenders. We need goals. The defence is pretty solid because we're hardly letting goals in - teams are pipping past with a single jammy goal.

It’s just our overall recruitment that looks like a fat ‘miss’ to me.

You know the drill. A top drawer game or two, then breaks down with a knee injury to shouts of 'well, you can't legislate for that sort of thing' from the hoard.
Whatever. Our most important requirement this window was for a creative centre mid. We've signed everything but.

If the plan is to go 3-5-2 then the Ebola/Foulds swap may make more sense. Foulds was one of better crossers of the ball but he was never going to take the full back on.
Still don’t think there’s been much strategy to the window.
