What would you rate the recruitment out of 10?

I said 4 the other day and that's probably being generous.
Here's one way of looking at it - Hughes was happy to keep the bulk of the side and starting 11 going into this season, it wasn't like before when we'd brought in 12, 15 etc players.
BUT - because he wants to keep a settled side, it negates any excuse of giving them 10 games to settle. If it's mostly the same team they shouldn't need to acclimatise.

So far only Pattison and Oyegoke look like good additions. Smith I think will be good too but haven't seen enough.
Oduor is 50/50. Looks hopeless as a LWB but apparently did ok further forward against boro.
Taylor is fucking gash and McDonald hasn't played a minute.
We're still without a competent LB and have a pensioner as our only ST option on the bench. Oh and Gilliead is still here.
5/10

McDonald has a 2 year deal despite having one kidney and barely playing games for about 4 seasons.

McDonald has a 2 year deal despite having one kidney and barely playing games for about 4 seasons. lol 51 games in 5 years. Even taking out the year he didn't play at all that's less than 13 games a year. Wouldn't surprise me if he picks up one of those seemingly minor injuries in August, needs an operation then we don't see him for 6 months.

Looking at our signings there’s a fair chance that Pattinson will be the only one who strengthens us and if that turns out to be the case then heads need to roll.
I’m going four out of ten and three of those marks are for Pattinson.

Anything above five is an improvement on last season and I think we’ve gone backwards to about 14th in league two. So 3/10.

I think McDonald will come good Pattison is good, kept Cook and Lewis beyond that I fail to see where we are competitive with other teams in the top half. Defence has gone backwards, our width is non existent and an injury to Cook will leave us struggling at the wrong end of the table.
3/10 that could easily drop by the end of the window

What sums it up for me is we gave Ridehalgh a new deal, recruited Oduour, and will have Gilliead at left wing-back. I can't wait for us to sell Lewis in Jan and move Double-dogshit into the net.

When Taylor turns out to be exactly what the entire footballing world knows he is then questions need to be asked. What are we doing that makes us think that signings like this are a good idea? Why do we keep recruiting players who aren’t just bad but mind-blowing my so?
Why is it that we’ve ended up with Taylor, Guthrie, Threlkeld, Richards-Everton, Angol, Robinson, Kelleher etc etc in the last few windows alone if we know what we’re doing?
We make too many poor signings - more than we can carry and that has to change.
I want to know who signed Taylor and why. This one needs justifying if we’re ever going to get anywhere.

If MH wants to keep most of the side the finished the season with a few updates, okay, I can accept that - but does anyone else feel like the season starts in 5 days, we have 7 games in a month and we seem grossly underprepared?
I don't just mean deflating signings, I hope Im wrong but just something seems very off?

Pretty atrocious last week of the window for us whilst plenty of the clubs at the top strengthened. Barrow's recruitment looks better ffs
