Released by Swindon after a year....
Now I know nothing about this kid, so let's see. But my gut is telling me that this signing now casts doubt on the others. I.e. the extent of our scouting is based on being under 24 and hungry to play more league football.
Are we still shopping in the shit pool but just a younger shit pool?
I may be being very unfair. And at least we're getting business done early.

If Watt goes then it looks like this kid and Sutton are vying for the second midfield slot alongside Songo’o. If Watt stays then he takes Sutton’s place or competes with him for the next in line squad berth. If it’s the latter then fine, if it’s the former then it’s slightly worrying.

So far a gk who's played 30 games in 7 years, a lad who couldn't get in the fgr team a Swindon reject and re-signed a crock and a reserve LB. Also a cb from one of the leakiest defences last season
There's going to be so much reliance on Hughes being an amazing coach.

The Forest Green lad has good stats and was kept from the first team by a pretty special strike force for this level and the Barrow defender comes highly rated. I’m less enamoured with the keeper and this signing plus some of those offered contacts should be easy to improve on. Mixed bag but better than usual so far for me.

The bare facts are that everyone is getting a hard on over absolutely nothing so far. They might turn out to be great signings but there's absolutely no reason to be excited over the business we have done.

I get the window hasn't opened yet so we're limited in the types of deals we can sign.
But we need quality and upgrades on what we had last season. Are we going to spend on transfer fees for proven quality or just hit and hope with young free transfers?
The 'replacement for Watt' line just smacks of the usual process of us wanting something cheaper than what we had when someone's contract ends.

Saying that, ‘usual’ is a pretty fucking low bar. This one though doesn’t bode well. Our new first choice midfielder being a young lad from Swindon’s reserves represents a huge gamble at best.

We shouldn't get into comparison's or talk of 'replacements, I agree'. He's not another Watt. East is East. I'll get me coat.

This lad may be good, I've got no idea. Problem I have is that he was 4th/5th choice at Swindon with their fans saying he had x,y and z ahead of him who were far superior players. Shouldn't we be signing players of that ilk?

Bottom line is that if this lad is here as a starter then it’s a major worry. Hopefully Parker is wrong and either Watt is staying or we’re signing another replacement as the first choice CM.

Signing Swindon’s fourth choice centre mid looks like such a weird decision that it makes me think some thought must have gone into it. Why would the name even come up otherwise?
Fuck it, I’m going hit.

Worry not, lads, Chirper likes it so he must be good: Ryan Sparks could take a huge, wet diarrhoea shit on Chirper's front room carpet then grind his arse into it to really engrain it in there and he's still thank him and ask for more.

My personal opinion is that if Watt and POC leave then we still need to sign another CB and CM despite the signings of Platt and East. And the same stands for if Vernam leaves despite the signing of Young IMO.

And the same stands for if Vernam leaves despite the signing of Young IMO. We needed better than them anyway. The squad that's left helped us limp to be the 10th/1th worst team in the entire football league. We can and should be buying better in every position than what we have, but we haven't yet.
