Why does everyone on itv coverage sound like they hate football? ITVs coverage bar Roy Keane is bloody awful, the adverts just before kickoff are a joke. Then again BBCs coverage has always been better. I mean, even the wife asked why they had a backdrop of London in the ITV studio when the games being shown weren't even there.

This game has been as tedious as Bowyer ball. Danish have no goal threat at all.

Agree with you on their lack of goal threat. They’re a good team without star players though and a goal threat would make a huge difference to them.

Well drilled with some dangerous players. A committed defence that took some beating. Like a decent Scotland. Same as Scotland, if they had a brilliant striker that occasionally comes through for these teams, they'd have won it. It's often hard for the 'better' team because they have to be the aggressor whereas the supposedly lesser team can sit back and then break. Southgate's teams get stick because they are very conservative with the aggression so it can be dull but eventually effective. I would love us to be more gung-ho but you can't argue with the results.

I thought they were a good unit without any real standout performers and that they broke well. They weren’t that shit that England didn’t feel the need to resort to Italian levels of diving.

They were garbage, apart from the free kick which Pickford should have done better with they made no attempt to win, instead going for the lottery of a penalty shoot out. It means you end up with a game that becomes a war of attrition, at no poi t in that game was I worried we would lose l, just a case of when the second goal went in.

That's the way they play, soak up pressure, stay tight at the back and hit on the break or set pieces. Not pretty but effective and it got them to a semi with average players. I was worried they'd sneak a winner in 90 minutes. They had a corner or 2 at the end of the game.

Best thing this will be the start of a golden era for England. All the other big European nations are on the downturn, England's talent pool will only get bigger. The likes of Bellingham will be regulars in two years time and more players TTA and Mason Greenwood will be off the production line.

It probably sounds weird cos he bought the penalty and was there for the own goal, but Sterling seems a liability. Like if there was a chance in the 90th minute and it fell to him you’d be sure he’d sky it, the forward equivalent of the defender who looks good but has one massive fuck up in him every game. Don’t get me wrong, when he’s on it he’s close to unplayable, but when he’s off it’s like he’s never seen a football before.
You could def see the difference between Ukraine (ranked 24th) and Denmark (ranked 10th). With Eriksen I’m not so sure they would have been so conservative or lost that.

He makes so many poor choices it’s untrue. The number of times there’s an easy and dangerous pass on and he decides to run straight into a defender’s legs. He’s an odd, odd player. He’s been around for years and I still can’t decide whether I rate him or not.

His decisions are often lacking but his pace and movement make him a huge threat. I like him but I think there'll always be a 'For Fucks Sake Sterling' moment in every game he plays.

Sterling reminds me of Kyle Reid when he was at City. If he doesn't have time to think and does things on instinct he is great, if he has time to think he usually makes the wrong decision. He should not be taking free kicks.

Couldn't care less about England TBH.
But as a neutral the current side just seems to have something there that that laughable 'golden generation' labelled one from a while back didn't. Forcing square pegs into round holes just because of their names... ffs they never learnt.
But I absolutely do not want the Italians to win as their fans, including a lot of family I have, will be fucking unbearable if they do.

Everything has aligned for England, even Italy losing their form player of the tournament through injury. A 7 game tournament is won more by luck than judgement, it's no different in any short based tournament. Last World Cup we got to the semis and never really played well, same in tournaments like italia 90 and euro 96. This year is just our turn.
