True. He’s a shocker. He’s one of the few players I’ve ever seen that are as bad as Josh Wright. A handful that bad in over thirty years of watching City and we managed to sign two at once. It’s sobering to think just how bad our recruitment was. It literally couldn’t have been worse. I'll always go back to the Shrewsbury away game last season, travelling down with fat Ade and asking to him to specifically watch Akpan and Wright because after watching them in pre season i hadn't a clue what the fuck they actually did. Neither of them have any sort of USP, just sauntering through games whilst doing fuck all. And that in turn takes us back to the eternal question: who the fuck scouted these chumps?

The positive from that second half was the tenacity shown by the defence at least, something that has been missing for quite a while now. BRE, O’Cunt and Wood were excellent for me and Wood especially showed some quality with his clearances. Mellor had a couple of brain farts late on but generally was ok. Midfield as we have all said is a massive worry. Palmer and Devine were none existent but at least kept some form of shape. Spakpan on the other hand needs to fuck right off, I’ve never seen such a massive pussy in my life...grow some fucking bollocks FFS, he very nearly cost us again this evening. Donaldo and Vaughan have obviously played at a higher level for most of their career, they both have some decent movement about them so should go on to bag plenty if the service is there. Service that should be provided by our lame horse of a right winger/forward...yet another woeful performance from #scanz, he has literally got nothing to his game. Special mention to O’Donnell, he won us two points tonight with that save but also tried to command his box, he did well for us and long may it continue. spakpan 😂😂😂😂

As soon as Akpan comes on he should just sit in front of the defence and try break up play.. yet because he’s a complete wage stealing fanny he can’t even do that. However the positives are that our defence looks more than capable against the shite league 2 attacks and our strikers will score goals.
Get Wood playing further up the pitch and his crosses will cause problems. I’ll take a 0-1 away from home any day of the week especially one that comes so soon after a Saturday game. We just need to control the midfield a lot better. Yes playing 4-4-2 you have to accept you’re giving some ground away at times but that doesn’t stop them doing the simple things.. Devine is too young and lacks that bit of extra quality at the minute to be marshalling the midfield... he looks tidy on the ball but think he needs someone more experienced next to him to help him grow.
Scannell is clearly still not fit (well I hope that the case as he’s currently slower than oil tanker when turning) hopefully he can get his fitness up through game time. Broken record time but we sign 2/3 midfielders before the window shuts and a young fast forward on loan and we’ll easily go up.. this league is abysmal.
At the minute we remind me of the team 2 seasons ago.. winning games whilst not playing well.. if we don’t sign the required players we’ll fall away again

Let Palmer and Devine drop to the bench and just get some quality old fashioned jones/Doyle or McCall/Whalley type combinations in

We are much more likely to win a game through clinical finishing or a set piece that dominating an opponent - which we haven't done in years. Gompers shouldn't be asking for Bowyer's cock to suck just yet.

I started typing up a post about how the better teams in the division will expose us and then I remembered that there aren't any. With the exception of maybe Mansfield they're all shit, each and every one of them.
On that basis it's difficult to assess where we are, but from what iv'e seen we look nothing like a promotion chasing team.
I wish I was even half as optimistic as the rest of our fanbase. It's Gomper galore on Bronco Talk although it usually is after a win.

I don't think we're exposed at all from set pieces. We've looked dominant when defending set pieces. We have given away 28 corners 52 free kicks in just 4 games and conceded just one goal which was a deflection. I don't think our defending can be faulted at the minute.. The reason we will concede is our inability to get control of the football for any length of time. Even against Oldham we scored from a cross and 2 punts upfield. If we can find someone to come in and take hold of the midfield we will walk this league as it's a joke!

Trying to analyse GB’s style of play- seems to be very much about hitting the channels and bypassing the two central midfielders. Time and time again we were looking to work the ball out wide to the full backs who look to hit long balls into channels. But most of these are not coming off, resulting in conceding possession and putting ourselves under pressure. Wood when he gets the ball, i think works well out wide , but really not sure about Scannell . I don’t think he has the out and out pace to beat defenders, nor the ball skills. In some respect, someone like Patrick might actually be better in that role but doubt he has any crossing ability. The two central midfielders are really there to break up play rather than create, so don’t think we’d ever sign a No.10 type player. So many times last night we could just have retained possession and slowed the game down a little by short passing and stopping their momentum, but as soon as we got the ball, we were looking to launch a counter attack.
GB has to be congratulated for restoring some pride and passion and a well organised defence, that is clearly our strong point so far. The midfield and attack needs further work.

There’s been a bit of bulling McCarten up in the press lately. Anyone thinking he could be our ‘new’ forward signing?

I don’t want to sound like that guy but I was assured by an Accrington fan that McCarten’s preferred position was genuine forward. I don’t think we’ve ever played him there but that would fit with our usual M.O.

Anyone seen the clubs Facebook clip of the player and fan reaction from full time last night?
Part of me thinks - cool, we've actually got a group of players that give a shit, a connection between the team and fans and a bit of spirit and resilience.
The other part thinks - we've just chased shadows against Stevenage reserves and jammied a win thanks to an own goal and you're all celebrating like we've won a play off semi final. Pipe the fuck down.

Actually did alright when we weren't hoofing long balls in his general direction.
