I know we’re only two games in but I think I’m going to have to seriously revise down my expectations for this season. Looking at our recruitment I can’t help but feel I’ve overrated it. We’ve got one stellar signing in Vaughan and two very good ones in Palmer and Paudie. We quickly hit the average/below average signings though in Everton and Donaldson. Poor acquisitions include Henley and Ismail while the rest are unknowns like Longridge, Hornby and French. I admit it, I gomped. Given that such a mixed bag of signings are being bolted into what’s left of the worst City squad I’ve ever seen I don’t know what made me think we’d done well. I’m revising down from battling for seventh to fizzling out somewhere mid to lower mid table. Another season of mediocrity beckons unless we can get two or three more in and even the we’d need to stay injury free the whole season. Palmer? Judged so far he's been no better than Anderson. His set pieces and passing has been awful. Grimsbys corners were bang on the money, the two we had were pathetic. Fully accept he hasn’t played well so far but it’s not hard to see there’s a real player in there if only he doesn’t have to do the whole midfield duties himself. I didn’t mention Bowyers bizarre re-signing of Anderson either but with, our midfield as weak as it is, Palmer is never going to get the time or space to play his passing game. We’ve packed our midfield with shite like Anderson or inexperienced fluff like Gibson, Devine and possibly Colville. The only players who’ve been there and done it are Palmer and Scannell and Bowyer sees fit to bench Scannell. Palmer is playing as our only real midfielder but he’s running the show alone. Bowyer is fucking Palmer in the arse. Palmer’s a player, mark my words.

Perhaps we’re being a bit harsh. BowyerS has said that Grimsby didn’t play football and stopped us from playing our natural game. He also said the conditions weren’t great. You can’t have better excuses than that; we’ll rip this division as long as teams let us play and it’s sunny, but not too hot.

You think Palmer is another Billy Knott and Donaldson will do alright. Maybe cricket is more your game, pal. I wish there was an avatar bet we could have on this but how would we set parameters for whether or not they’ve been a success?

We seem to have appointed a manager with equally low ambitions to Julian Rhodes.
We're paying Reeves, Riley, Robinson and Coleville to sit at home. Ismail or what ever he is called and McCartan are nowhere to be seen either. We have a paper thin squad and most of them are unfit or unavailable.
Vaughan looks like he could get a hat full in a good team. That's not us.

No idea how Cambridge and Grimsby will fare this season, but last season they were no great shakes at all. Early days obviously but improvement is needed. Any talk of us pushing for promotion doesn’t really sit well when you consider our opening two games results and how we’ve played. I can’t see us having enough to go up over a season, we look pretty limited in how we can set up looking at how narrow we appear to be, and not loads of options / experience outwith out first 11. We do have goals in Vaughan though if we can give him decent service, and we look pretty solid defensively. Need to rebuild our home form, that’ll be key to us having success, plenty of teams will fancy beating us at VP it depends how Bowyer can get the best out if this squad and turn us having a decent support at home for this league in our favour, rather than a becoming a hinderance and a kind of negative pressure that it sometimes becomes.

Palmer looked far better against Wigan in preseason when next to Akpan. The balance of the team is wrong, that’s affecting everyone and the main reason everyone in front of the back four is struggling to get going.
Bowyer must be able to see what we’re all seeing so why doesn’t he remedy it? The longer it goes on the more confidence is draining out of our actual decent players. It’s a risky game to play.
But why might he be doing it? - is Scannel due to leave and he’s trying to prepare us for that? - Does Doyle somehow hold some unbelievable amount of influence within the squad? - Is Jacko struggling with the pressure? He looked alright preseason but that brief appearance at home he looked awful - What of the likes of Shay/Paudie? Most on here had POC as a first team player, and given the lack of options Shay is worth a try for 20 mins or so - What’s with Ismail? Is he a croc or something?
So far our only “move” is Gibbo getting it halfway into their half, then cutting back and looping it into the box. Did it time and again against Cambridge. Most of the balls were too long. Yesterday, it’s where our only game came from. Is this really Bowyers plan?
I’m not having it, there’s some darker forces at work here. There’s no logic to it.

The list of problems we have at the moment is a very lengthy one:
*Having a Right Back at Left Back. *Relying on Henley and Mellor to provide width. *Having Anderson in midfield when he isn't good enough. *Playing Gibson in midfield when he's not ready. *Employing Palmer as a defensive midfielder. *No defensive midfielder. *No left winger. *Scannell on the bench. *Doyle in the hole. *Ismail, Mcarten, Longridge, Reeves, Akpan, Riley and Robinson all unavailable.
90% of the above can be resolved with the addition of 2 players and a manager who's prepared to play 4-4-2.
Rupp needs to get his wallet out and Bowyer needs to stop being so stubborn. Do that and we might actually achieve something.

How shit must Omari Patrick be if he can’t get on the bench when there are not other forwards available?

How shit must Omari Patrick be if he can’t get on the bench when there are not other forwards available? One of the problems this club still has from the Rahic Era that ain't going away anytime soon. The same with Akpan, Reeves, Robinson, Doyle. We have five first team players that offer the grand sum of nothing, you can count Riley on top of that with or without his injury. Six players on first team wages. I'm not sure i can stand a season in league 2, let alone a number of seasons. 2 games in and i'm already losing the will to live.

Can’t see Tyrell being on a big wage but with his contract up next year I don’t think you’ll see him in a City shirt again. The other five, and I’ll add McCarten in, we’re stuck with and until they go we’re stuck with the current squad and League 2 mediocrity. This is the years to get over Rahic being lived out.

I'd rather go to games too but I dislike shit football and paying for the privilege I hate shit football but do enjoy a good day out at the football. Last game that i went to that i actually enjoyed was Crackovia in Poland. Food and Beer was good, the game was half decent and the fans were mental. pretty much the opposite of what i've seen at City for as long as i can remember.
