that cunt needs sectioning When we get relegated after 46 games, we'll have to remember to give the lads credit because the first half away at Leyton Orient wasn't bad. Its not just tonight is it, its a reflection of everything.

Its not just tonight is it, its a reflection of everything. He starts off alright but then gomper mode kicks in. We were the better side first half without creating many clearcut chances. If Wood takes that chance early on we might go and win. But to suggest we were by far the better side is just utter nonsense and this sort of reporting is far more harm to the players than an honest appraisal and a few home truths. He makes the likes of Bantam Pete look like us.

Some of our fans remind me of psychologically damaged, battered wives. They wouldn't know what to do if we had a thriving and successful club. Being shit is somehow comforting. They embrace it, they wear 'staying with the lads' as a badge of honour.

20th in League 2. We can't gamble on time. Unfortunately we need a short term fix to keep us away from the relegation zone this year.
And its not spending a fortune - we chronically underspent for several windows anyway as well as off the pitch and are paying the price.

I'm not sure that we underspent, I think we didn't spend wisely.

We got a new senior manager managing our department at work earlier this year. The team is about 40 in size.
This manager has won a few industry awards in her previous roles. Worked for some big name brands.
But she's awful. Absolutely horrific as a manager - purely focused on getting results, and is working people to the verge of stress and illness. Several long term members of staff thought fuck this and left.
An office is a very different environement with awards measured in a different way, but just becuase someone comes in with a reputation under their belt doesn't mean the staff will respect you or feel inspired.

True. Also, McCall could be the best motivator and tactical master in Yorkshire but you can't turn non-league standard players, past it players and youth players into L2 ready players and expect them to get results against well drilled sides when they're simply not good enough. You could potentially train a bunch of fit men to park the bus for 90 minutes. You see that at international level when teams like Lichtenstien manage to keep an England or a Germany to a 2 nil scoreline and see that as a good result. As he said in an interview the other day though, his teams will never be able to do that.

As he said in an interview the other day though, his teams will never be able to do that. I think its quite telling in his years here he's never really identified players with the attributes that made him such a loved player for us. You did see it a bit with some - Flynn, Vincelot, I'd even say Hanson in some way - but no one who stood out like he did. I can't remember who it was, Parkinson maybe, who had a rough patch and had to go through a phase of grinding out results - I think he stopped a bad run by going away to high flying Rotherham on a Friday night, setting up 4-5-1 and got a boring but organised and disciplined 0-0. We were something like 6 points from the drop zone with about 5 games left, and a cautious approach just helped us inch a bit closer to safety. Point is, I've never seen McCall look like setting a team up to play like that - not a case of worrying about the opposition, but when he's been on a bad run (as often happens), just try to make us difficult to break down and grind something through a similar performance. It's the sort of thing he needed from one of those 2 away games we've just had.

At this level, football is not complicated. Do the basics and you'll win more than you lose. Pick a settled formation based on the players you have and drill players in those positions. Don't worry about the opposition, worry about getting in the right position at the right time.
McCall has always spent too long tinkering to avoid threats from opponents and not enough time drilling the basics. Parkinson generally got that, and it was not pretty to begin with, but it worked. He wasn't perfect, his constant desire to try wing backs in L1 did my head in, but at least he didn't change things every week.
The players we have are no world beaters, but the constant fucking meddling is making them look more gormless than they are.

Haha I saw that. Can't tell if it's taking the piss or not. Employ someone with no CEO experience because he knows the place. Next up, the pirate groundsman is made up to director of communication because he knows about Valley Parade.
