Whilst it's sad he's gone - legend, warrior etc - he's 30 and a 3rd division centre back. I'd be worried if we were throwing money and 3 year deals at these types of players to be honest.

I don't think were throwing money at anyone mate, I can see the strategy but it's still shit seeing a player like Rory leave. Let's see who comes in, these "6 figure players" must be hiding in the new changing rooms like Chicksen was.

Darby, McArdle, Meredith, Cullen and Marshall are not going to be easy to replace. We're going to need some serious investment on the squad just to stay on the level we were at.

Rory's got better every season. Can't believe we're letting him go to be honest. Investing in youth is a good policy but you need these experienced lads too in my opinion. Let's hope Killa stays fit and can come back to somewhere near his old ability.

The last few seasons the players that have left have been replaced by better quality ( Wells being the obvious exception). Without us paying bigger wages this is not going to happen now, i suspect our budget will be mid table at best. McCall is going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to make it work this time. Not exactly optimistic for next season at the moment, too many unknowns at this time.

People can debate Rory's age and contract length as much as they want.
Fact is or biggest strength over the last 2 years - the defence - has been wiped out. We had enough to worry about with misfiring forwards and an unbalanced midfield - the one thing we could rely on was the back 4.
Not having a fucking whige but I hope we've got something good lined up. We've lost a shit ton of experience and a huge amount of games played in the last few weeks.
I wonder what we actually offered to all our OOC players compared to everyone else. Does anyone actually want to stay, or they know something we don't?
I want to be able to hit the ground running for once, not spend 10 games working out what our best back 4 are and excusing shit results for it.

I think people over egg the age thing. The diets and training regimes not just in football but sport in general has advanced so much now. When we used to think once a player gets to 30 he's on the decline physically has gone. He's still got a good 3 years left in him and is a massive loss.

What's the betting that fucking McMahon is the only one that stays.
It's Tony 'THE MAC' McMahon. Fuck off

I'm fairly relaxed. I like their approach. Wyke and Jones (and Gilliead) are the types of players we should be signing. Not your Mcleans, Bouldings, Grays etc so if they get it right we'll be laughing.
That said there is still a place for the older heads (Rory, Vince etc) so I hope we don't try and be too clever.

The new regime have really backed themselves into a corner now. Either they've got supreme confidence in their ability to recruit players at least as good or their overriding concern is doing things on the cheap. I'm not confident they'll be able to do it and I'm expecting failure next season. The doubts are starting to creep in.

I was told none of our targets are household names even to our league. I heard on one hand we've offered a contract to carey then another says it's absolute bollocks. I've got no confidence at all in those names that are already linked but I guess the proof of the pudding etc etc

There's a growing rumour we're in for Cullen. People live in a dream world; he'd spunk at least a quarter of our budget even if it were feasible.

But people who stick religiously to this idea that you don't do business early need to get real - it's 2017, players consider options and deals are started to done as soon are the season finishes. It's not like it was when the sport shut down for 8 weeks. It's just we never seem to strike early and I hoped after last season the notion of full rebuilding was behind us for a bit.

Absolutely gutted.
The players we are after at this time are mediocre at best. Ye the six figure bid is more like it, but will we get it over the line?
Or will it be some puppet coming out and telling the fans, "we tried our best", next Window will be different!
